| The UN Human Rights Council adopted draft resolution A/HRC/63/L.18 on the situation of human rights in the Bolivarian Republic of .
In its resolution, the Council
- Welcoming the reports of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, and the independent international fact-finding mission on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and other international organizations and mechanisms,
- Requested the High Commissioner to continue to monitor, report on and provide technical cooperation with a view to improving the situation of human rights in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela;
- Also requested the High Commissioner to present to the Council oral updates at its sixty-fourth and sixty-seventh sessions, each to be followed by an interactive dialogue, and to submit comprehensive reports on the situation of human rights in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela containing an assessment of the implementation of the recommendations made in previous reports to the Council for consideration at its sixty-fifth and sixty-eighth sessions, each to be followed by an interactive dialogue;
- Decided to extend for a period of two years the mandate of the independent international fact-finding mission on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as set out in Council resolutions 42/25, 45/20 and 57/36;
- Requested the fact-finding mission to present to the Council oral updates on its work at the Council’s sixty-fourth and sixty-seventh sessions, each to be followed by an interactive dialogue, and to submit to the Council reports on its findings and recommendations for future action by the Council at its sixty-sixth and sixty-ninth sessions, each to be followed by an interactive dialogue;
- Encouraged the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to continue to strengthen its cooperation in a full manner with the United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) and urged the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to cooperate fully with the fact-finding mission, to grant OHCHR and the mission immediate, full and unfettered access to the entire country, including to victims and places of detention, to provide them with all the information necessary to fulfil their mandates, and to ensure that all individuals have unhindered access to and can communicate with the United Nations and other human rights entities without fear of reprisal, intimidation or attack;
- Encouraged relevant special procedures of the Council to pay particular attention, within their respective mandates, to the situation of human rights in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and urged the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to cooperate fully with their work, including by facilitating country visits;
