🆕 Just launched! The Journal of the International AIDS Society has published a new supplement, “The State of HIV-Related Implementation Research in 2026: Lessons Learned and Future Directions”.

How can implementation research help turn evidence into action?

This new collection highlights best practices for advancing implementation science, with articles exploring the critical role of community engagement and culturally grounded approaches in addressing structural determinants of HIV prevention and care.

The supplement is guest edited by Stefan Baral (Johns Hopkins University), Tonderai Mabuto (The Aurum Institute) and Sheree Schwartz (Johns Hopkins University).

🇪🇬 Two days of dialogue, collaboration and action in Cairo!

118 participants came together on 30 September and 1 October to exchange knowledge, share experiences and strengthen the HIV response in Egypt.

The IAS Educational Fund and مؤسسة الشهاب Al-Shehab Foundation for Comprehensive Development workshop, organized in collaboration with Egypt’s National AIDS Program, brought together government, civil society, community organizations, healthcare providers, researchers and international partners.

On the first day, participants explored the latest evidence and regional experiences on expanding access to PrEP, reducing HIV-related stigma in healthcare settings, strengthening community engagement and supporting the implementation of Egypt's national AIDS strategy.

On day two, discussion turned to action as participants worked together to develop practical recommendations on community engagement, equitable access to PrEP, stigma-free healthcare, sustainable financing and stronger referral and follow-up systems.

Applications are now open for the and Community Project Grants, supporting community-led projects that turn scientific evidence into action.

Successful applicants will receive up to USD 10,000 for projects focused on:

🔹 HIV prevention
🔹 Harm reduction
🔹 HIV-related stigma
🔹 Mental health and neurodiversity in HIV science
🔹 Gender-based violence

Selected organizations will have the opportunity to showcase their work at HIVR4P 2027 or IAS 2027 in Geneva, Switzerland, in July 2027.

✨ We’re kicking off the workshop in Cairo: "From evidence to action: Collaborating for Egypt’s HIV response".

Over the next two days, communities, civil society, policy makers, healthcare workers, researchers and partners will come together to identify practical ways to support the implementation of Egypt’s national AIDS strategy.

💬 Today, we will focus on the role of civil society in the national AIDS strategy, PrEP and combination prevention, and advancing stigma-free healthcare for people living with and affected by HIV.
