How can crisis communication better serve multi-ethnic communities, low-resource languages and Indigenous worldviews?
On 18 August 2026, international and local experts will come together for: 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻-𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝗼-𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
The conversation will explore the role of translation, interpreting and emerging technologies in crisis communication, bringing together perspectives from language professionals, researchers and specialists from around the world.

The event is organised by Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington and co-hosted by FIT and the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters (NZSTI), in partnership with the Embassies of Argentina, Estonia and Italy and the High Commission of Canada.
Because in times of crisis, access to clear, inclusive and reliable communication can save lives.
The event will be recorded and the video recording will be made available to FIT members.
