The Day 2 of beHIV: Breaking Stigma through Education on HIV Training continued on November 23, 2025, at the SK E-Learning Hub in Barangay Calumpang, with participants engaging in interactive mock peer education presentations designed to strengthen their communication and facilitation skills.
For this activity, participants delivered HIV information and key messages in various languages, demonstrating not only their comprehension of the topics but also their ability to adapt educational content to diverse audiences. This exercise aimed to enhance their confidence, cultural sensitivity, and effectiveness as future peer educators within their respective communities. The mock presentations encouraged teamwork, creativity, and practical application of the concepts learned during Day 1.
Day 2 highlighted the participants’ growing competence and readiness to engage their peers, reinforcing the beHIV program’s goal of empowering youth advocates who can help break stigma and promote accurate, compassionate HIV awareness across Barangay Calumpang.

The beHIV: Breaking Stigma through Education on HIV Training opened on November 22, 2025, at the SK E-Learning Hub, bringing together youth participants for a series of foundational sessions on HIV awareness and peer education.
Day 1 featured discussions from Tracy Rose Provido on basic peer education theories, Kierra Claire Fedillaga, RN, on becoming an effective peer educator, and Jelord James M. Mesa, RN, who conducted an HIV 101 and STI Orientation.
The first day concluded with participants gaining essential knowledge and skills needed to advocate for accurate information, reduce stigma, and promote sexual and reproductive health in their communities.

𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗛𝗜𝗩: 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗺𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

In a time where misinformation and stigma continue to silence important conversations, I beHIV stands as a call to action.

This year, on November 15-16, the 7th Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Calumpang launches this capacity-building training to empower the youth — ages 15 to 30 — to become peer educators and advocates of HIV and AIDS prevention. Through this initiative, participants will gain the knowledge, confidence, and skills to lead meaningful discussions on HIV 101, sexually transmitted infections, and reproductive health within their schools and communities.

Let’s break the silence. Let’s fight misinformation. Let’s build a safe and stigma-free society — one empowered youth at a time.

Jelord James Mesa represented the Global Shapers GenSan Hub at the Global Shapers Annual Summit 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Held from July 8 to 11, the summit centered on the theme “Next Generation Now,” highlighting how young leaders were not just the voices of the future—they were actively shaping the world.

The event gathered changemakers under 30 who led transformative initiatives in climate action, inclusive economies, and social innovation.

Mesa joined fellow representatives from other Global Shapers hubs across the Philippines, forming a united presence at the summit.

He also stepped into his new role as Curator of the Global Shapers GenSan Hub, strengthening the Hub’s impact and leadership within the community.

Global Shapers GenSan Hub’s incoming curator, Jelord James M. Mesa, RN, served as the lecturer on Mpox prevention and proper handwashing in a series of sessions organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of General Santos City.

Dubbed “Serbisyong Kalinga,” the lectures were held on June 2 in Barangay Siguel, June 4 in Barangays Upper Labay and Tinagacan, and June 5 in Barangays Sinawal and Fatima.

School-aged beneficiaries received essential health education along with school supplies and food packs.

The initiative was spearheaded by SK Federation President Elijah Joanne Polistico-Pacquiao, with strong support from the Office of the SK Federation.

The SK Federation expresses its gratitude to GenSan Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao for providing school supplies and to the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) for its continued support in delivering vital health information to grassroots communities.
