🔷The new United Nations Open Source Portal centralizes open source initiatives across the UN system, including the eTIR National Application released by UNECE.
Open source software is a practical way for governments and partners to share trusted building blocks so that countries can modernize faster without starting from scratch.
As an early contribution to this effort, UNECE's eTIR National Application enables Contracting Parties to the TIR Convention, as well as partners, to freely review, customize, and integrate the application within their national customs systems, supporting seamless with the eTIR International System.
In simple terms, this means faster, more transparent and secured transit procedures with no paper and fewer manual steps, while enabling countries to reuse and improve a digital public good at no licensing cost.
Together, these developments strengthen the UN’s commitment to openness, interoperability and digital transformation.
