Yesterday morning’s dipping was cancelled but there was a moment of dryness when two of the group headed to the plage des Eaux-Vives. Interesting dip in water temperature.

Our baskets -to be silent auctioned at the Fundraiser Party for the CRR- are looking fantastic. And for the live auction, our members are offering W**e Tasting for 8, a 50 minute Therapeutic massage, an acupuncture session, and a mahjong set!

One of the great benefits of an international women’s club is the sharing of food and the learning involved with its preparation.

We had such an educational visit to the Centre de Réadaptation des Rapaces, where Geneva’s injured and orphaned wildlife is taken to be healed and returned to the wild. The tour included how the animals come to be there, preventative measures and a close up education about various raptors.

The CRR is practical about what most humans will and will not do to prevent animal injury so here are a few recommendations:

- place large, bright colored collars on cats to prevent bird deaths, and better yet bring them in at night.
-Leave leaves around your hedges and back yard! Hedgehogs need the food leaves attract and the they serve as winter homes for hibernation.
- Don’t leave human nor animal hair out for birds. It actually winds around their feet cutting off blood circulation and kills babies in the nest.
-place colorful items in front of your windows. Windows tend to reflect the trees and grass outside. If they see other objects they tend not to fly into your windows.
- if you kill an animal when driving, stop if you can (or call the fire department). Move the animal off the road. Carrion attracts more animals so keep these feeders safely off the road.
