A decade of building road safety leaders. 🌍

In 2016, Global Road Safety Partnership and Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit launched the very first Global Road Safety Leadership Course, supported by the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS). Ten years and 18 courses later, that idea has grown into something much bigger: the Global Road Safety Leadership Institute, now home to 1,223 alumni from 86 countries.

This year's cohort tackled everything from speed management to advocacy strategy, road policing deterrence to gender and road safety, proof that saving lives on our roads takes every discipline working together.

Road safety has become a shared priority across governments, police, and communities worldwide, and GRSP is proud to have helped shape the leaders driving that change, with the continued support of Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Speeding remains the leading factor behind road trauma, and human behaviour changes only when enforcement is real.

This week, on 3-4 August, Global Road Safety Partnership with the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) conducted a Speed Enforcement and Crash Investigation Training Workshop for traffic officers from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Malaysia Road Transport Department (JPJ). The training demonstrated officers to speed camera devices and how the right tools, applied consistently, can enforce compliance, and keep road users within safe limits.

Rules alone don't change behaviour, enforcement does. Strong turnout, sharp minds, safer roads ahead. Thank you to everyone for their commitment towards building a safer road environment.

Global Road Safety Partnership Delivers Continued Speed Enforcement Training in Delhi.

GRSP recently delivered Speed Enforcement Capacity Building workshops in New Delhi for officers from the Transport Department Delhi Enforcement Division (1 June) and Delhi Traffic Police (2–3 June 2026).

The sessions covered deterrence theory, the safe system approach, safe roadside operations, and manual & automated enforcement techniques, including hands-on training with TruCAM II laser speed cameras.

This builds on GRSP's five-day training with Delhi Traffic Police in February 2026, which supported the launch of the Evidence-Based Speed Enforcement Pilot Project at high-risk, high-speed locations across the city. The pilot continues in the coming months, focusing on high-visibility speed enforcement whilst measuring impact on reducing speeding and improving road safety outcomes.

🚔 Global Road Safety Partnership supports Bengaluru Traffic Police with Speed Enforcement Training.

GRSP recently delivered a two-day speed enforcement training programme with Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) on 26–27 May 2026.

Day one covered the Safe System approach, deterrence theory, and an introduction to TruCAM II laser speed cameras. Day two moved into the field with a live simulation on Bellary Road, putting skills into practice in a real roadside environment.

Officers demonstrated strong operational capability and responded positively to both the technology and the high-visibility enforcement model — with final preparations now under way for the formal launch of the Evidence-Based Speed Enforcement Pilot Project across Bengaluru.

Safer roads start with stronger enforcement. 🛣️

Road safety hasn't gone away, and neither have we. 🚦

Every day, 3,260 lives are lost and 48,000 people are seriously injured on the world's roads. In our June 2026 Signpost, Global Road Safety Partnership issues a renewed call to action — urging the private sector to step up, re-engage, and help us turn the tide on one of the world's most preventable crises.

Because safer roads are everyone's responsibility.
