Join us for a discussion with Prof. Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, a Palestinian-Canadian physician, professor, human rights and peace advocate, and founder and leader of the Global Institute for the Study of Socio-endemic Diseases, Hatred, Health and Peace (GISED) at KU Leuven.

Prof. Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish is also the author of the internationally acclaimed memoir I Shall Not Hate (2010). He founded The Daughters for Life Foundation in memory of his three daughters Bessan, Mayar, and Aya, who were at home when they were killed by two Israeli shells in 2009. Born in the Jabalia Refugee Camp in Gaza, Prof. Dr. Abuelaish has transformed profound personal loss into a global message of resilience, justice, and peace.

Event “Gaza: Doctors Under Attack”

Join us for the screening of the investigative documentary Gaza: Doctors Under Attack, followed by a panel discussion with experts who have worked inside Gaza’s hospitals. This documentary explores the situation faced by Gaza’s healthcare workers and the extreme conditions in which medical teams have been trying to save lives.

It examines what has happened to hospitals, medical staff and emergency services, and highlights the courage and humanity of those who continue to care for patients with almost no resources left.

🎤 Speakers include:
• Dr. Victoria Rose, consultant plastic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience, who has carried out humanitarian surgical missions in Gaza since 2018
• Dr. Khaled Dawas, consultant surgeon and associate professor at UCLH, who has travelled to Gaza twice with emergency medical teams since December 2023
• Ben De Pear, former Editor of Channel 4 News and executive producer of the documentary

At the heart of the UN city, a timely and urgent discussion unfolded with:
