Global Shapers

The Global Shapers Community is a network of young people driving dialogue, action and change.

We believe in a world where young people are central to solution building, policy-making and lasting change. Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional and global challenges. With more than 6,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 378 city-based hubs in 160 countr

ies. In each city, teams of Shapers self-organize to create projects that address the needs of their community. Projects are wide-ranging – from responding to disasters and combating poverty, to fighting climate change and building inclusive communities. Shapers are diverse in expertise, education, income and race, but are united by their desire to bring about change.

In 2023, when Shaping Political Futures started, in Nepal, fewer than 3% of members of parliament are under the age of 30. For young people, political participation is not only about being heard; it is about having the knowledge, skills and opportunities to shape the country’s direction.

Shaping Political Futures aims to provide Nepali youth (ages 18-30) with the necessary knowledge and skills to participate more effectively in the political process in a federal Nepal.

Santosh Pandey is part of the Kathmandu Hub of the Global Shapers Community, a World Economic Forum initiative that comprises more than 11,000 young , and from around the world.

What if the solution to one of a community's biggest challenges came from the girls most affected by it? Through Technovation, an initiative of the Global Shapers Nairobi Hub, that question became a reality.

After surviving child marriage, Rosilla helped create End Cut—an app designed to raise awareness about FGM while creating new economic opportunities for women through traditional craftsmanship.

It's a reminder that when young people have access to education, technology and the opportunity to lead, they don't just change their own futures, they transform their communities.

What does it take to build healthier cities?

Building on the success of the New Delhi Hub's Innovation Prize-winning project tackling air pollution, students, young professionals and experts came together at our latest Meet the Leader Conclave to discuss one of India's most urgent challenges: urban health.

🎊The Global Shapers Hong Kong Hub celebrated its 15th year anniversary!

The event brought together more than 60 attendees, including local and visiting Global Shapers, alumni, prospective members, and partners from across Hong Kong’s public, private, and social sectors.

At , Global Shapers translated World Economic Forum priorities into action.

Through deep-dive sessions with 10 Forum initiatives, participants co-designed pathways to turn global priorities into local impact—from expanding AI literacy and clean air initiatives to advancing women's health, youth employment, the longevity economy, plastic action and urban innovation.

A huge thank you to the Forum teams and community members who led these sessions and created space for meaningful collaboration. Together, we explored how youth perspectives can strengthen and accelerate ongoing Forum initiatives through practical action in communities around the world.

Throughout the Global Shapers Annual Summit 2026, one thing stood out: the willingness to listen, learn, and lead together.

For many, this was their first visit to Switzerland. For some, it was their first time traveling internationally. Every conversation brought a new perspective, and every connection reinforced the power of a truly global community.

This week also marked the close of the Youth Pulse survey, capturing the voices of more than 10,000 young people from around the world. A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to share their perspectives and contribute to this global conversation.

The conversations don't end here. They continue in communities around the world, where today's insights become tomorrow's action.

At ITU's AI for Good and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), Global Shapers contributed to critical conversations on the future of AI and digital governance.

Several themes emerged consistently throughout the week:

✔️What role will young people play in designing tomorrow's digital systems?
✔️How can AI governance better reflect the priorities and concerns of younger generations?
✔️What does inclusive digital development look like when young people are placing greater value on meaningful work, privacy, trust, and responsible innovation?

The decisions we make today about AI governance will shape how future generations live, work, and innovate. That is why young people need a meaningful role in shaping these systems from the start—not just as participants, but as partners.

As part of the challenge, in collaboration with GPAP, the Changsha Hub launched a youth-led plastic reduction intervention in Hunan and is the winner of the “Photo Series” category. 🌍♻️

By combining campus-based education with riverside clean-up actions, the Hub engaged over 600 students to rethink single-use plastics, explore low-plastic daily habits, and take direct action along the Xiangjiang River waterfront. 💡🌊

Through partnerships with local environmental organizations, the project also created a practical, low-carbon model for volunteer clean-ups by reusing existing plastic bags instead of purchasing new ones. We congratulate the Changsha Hub! 🎉
