Two devastating earthquakes have struck Venezuela.
They are among the strongest earthquakes the country has experienced in more than a century. Major damage has been reported, particularly in northern Venezuela and in Caracas. The full extent of the disaster remains unclear, but very significant humanitarian needs are already emerging.
The disaster has struck a country where many people were already living in extreme poverty. Swiss Solidarity is therefore launching an appeal for donations and, together with its Swiss partner organisations active in the region, is supporting the affected population.
