New figures from Yemen reveal two simultaneous trends: rising displacement and rising migration.

More than 217,000 people have been displaced since fighting intensified on the West Coast. Meanwhile, migrant arrivals have reached 134,100 in 2026, already exceeding the total number recorded during all of 2025.

As conflict continues to affect communities across the country, the data highlights the challenges facing both displaced families and migrants undertaking risky journeys through Yemen in search of better opportunities.

At just 17, Amna left Ethiopia hoping to find work and support her family. But her journey through Yemen took a devastating turn when she was caught in gunfire and seriously injured.

After months of medical treatment, she arrived at IOM’s Community-Based Care centre in Aden, where she received psychosocial care, made friends, and began learning new skills.

Today, Amna is hoping to return home, reunite with her family, and continue her education.

When people are displaced, they lose more than their homes. They can lose their routines, their neighbours, and the feeling of belonging.

In Mykolaiv, Ukraine, psychosocial care and group activities are helping displaced people to manage stress and connect with others through shared purpose.

At a volunteer centre in the city, Liudmyla and other displaced women have found people to talk to, work alongside and rely on.

Originally from North Gaza, Sumoud has been displaced several times. Since her husband was killed, she has been raising their six children alone in a makeshift site in Nuseirat.

Almost a year after the ceasefire was announced in October 2025, violence and displacement continue across Gaza. More families are being forced from their homes and pushed into an ever-shrinking area of land.
