HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️💛💜

No matter our races, origins, or genders, most of us value the freedom to live our lives and to show up for our communities as our true selves.

But more and more, authoritarian leaders and movements are trying to control what happens to our bodies and how we move through the world. Their effort to drive LGBTI people out of public spaces is part of a reactionary playbook, which we had hoped societies had overcome.

Time and again, people caring for social justice have walked side by side, refusing to be pushed back into hiding.

Every time the world gathers for Pride, in June or any time during the year, we celebrate one another in our beautiful diversity. And, together, we create a world where everyone can walk openly, without fear.

🔴 BREAKING NEWS: The parliament of Ghana has passed the so-called anti-LGBTQ bill, only a few days before a large foreign-funded anti-rights conference opens in Accra next week.

President John Dramani Mahama must now choose to reject or sign the bill, or to return it to parliament for amendments.

ILGA World and Pan Africa ILGA join people and organisations at all levels, from the grassroots to the international stage, in calling him to reject a provision that tears at the very fabric of human rights, democracy, and the respect for human dignity enshrined in the country’s constitution.

According to the ILGA World Database, consensual same-s*x s*xual acts are already criminalised in the country. But this bill — which was first approved in February 2024, expired with the dissolution of the previous Parliament and was not signed into law — would make the situation significantly worse.

This bill threatens far beyond LGBTQ+ communities. By criminalising the promotion of “non-conventional s*xual relations and family values”, it could punish teachers, health workers, journalists, lawyers, researchers and parents for providing information, care or support. Its duty-to-report provision pressures families and neighbours into surveillance. Ghana would become less safe for everyone, with care, privacy and civic freedom at grave risk.

Moreover, it criminalises advocacy for LGBTQ folks, and even solidarity with them: people would face prosecution for supporting LGBTQ rights or offering services to community members.

"What connects all of us is very simple. It is the belief that everyone deserves to live with dignity. Fully. Welcomed as they are."

We are honoured to share our 2025 annual report with you, summarising a year of work alongside our LGBTI communities worldwide. Together, we navigate a time when reactionary forces are weakening the very systems designed to protect people and their rights. And yet, we keep showing up to create a better world for everyone.

Happy Pans*xual and Panromantic Awareness and Visibility Day!

Let us continue creating spaces where pans*xual and panromantic people can safely connect, share their lived experiences, build collective strength, and thrive in solidarity amid the evolving realities of 2026.

You are valued. You are affirmed. You deserve to exist openly and fully.

For every person, having documents that reflect who they are — including their gender identity — means dignity, and fewer obstacles navigating daily life.

This week, Kenya took a meaningful step forward. The High Court clarified that nothing in the law prevents the state from reviewing requests to update s*x or gender markers on official documents. More importantly, the court ruled that refusing to even consider these requests violates the Constitution.

To all the advocates, activists, and community members who made this happen: thank you. This victory belongs to you.

The way LGBTQIA+ organisations communicate can play a crucial role in building more diverse, participatory movements. When our content is inaccessible, we exclude disabled people before they even reach our campaigns, activities, or spaces.

Accessibility is not about perfection. It is about movement, commitment, and action. The learning process, the shifted mindset, the practices we change – they all contribute to building the world we are fighting for.

Many digital barriers are avoidable. This carousel covers 7 concrete things you can start doing now. On this Global Accessibility Awareness Day, let's turn awareness into action and strengthen our movements together.

When LBTI people are intentionally included in feminist spaces, we move closer to dismantling the oppressive systems that impact us all.

The Women Deliver Conference was truly a space to collaborate and support each other. Here’s to building more collaborative, affirming, and transformative spaces for everyone.

🏳️‍⚧️ UN Trans Advocacy Week is back!

Most trans people wish to go through life living openly and freely, as their true selves. Yet, that is not a reality for the majority. This is why we need Trans Advocacy Week: to put trans and gender diverse activists right at the heart of democracy!

Delegates will have the chance to speak directly to diplomats, UN experts, and civil society at the United Nations, sharing their communities’ experiences.

This time, we will bring participants from Albania, Armenia, Belarus/Poland, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Cameroon, Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco, Nigeria, Panama, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia to the 62nd UN human Rights Council.

If you have never heard about UN Trans Advocacy Week, read our article to understand what it is and why it is so important for trans and gender-diverse communities to bring their experiences to the international level.

Stay tuned as we will be sharing previous participants' experiences soon.
