Il y a 115 ans, disparaissait Henri Dunant, fondateur du Mouvement de la Croix-Rouge et premier lauréat du Prix Nobel de la Paix (1901).

En 1859, témoin des horreurs de la bataille de Solferino, il lance un appel pour secourir les blessés sans distinction.

De cette idée naîtront :

- le Comité international de la Croix-Rouge (CICR),

- les Conventions de Genève,

- et un vaste mouvement humanitaire présent aujourd’hui dans plus de 190 pays.

En Seine-Maritime, comme ailleurs, nous poursuivons chaque jour cet engagement : venir en aide, protéger, former et secourir.

His remarkable research, “When Bullets Threaten the Pursuit of Knowledge,” shines a powerful light on children’s right to education in times of war. Guided by Professor Clara Sandoval at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, Mr. Nyathi shows that when schools are attacked or occupied, it is not only education that is lost—it is human dignity itself.

Through his work, he reminds us that protecting education is protecting humanity. In the spirit of Henry Dunant, he bridges law and compassion, calling for a world where every child can learn—even amid conflict.
