UN Interagency Task Force on NCDs Inter-Agency Task Force on . Established by in 2013 at request of . Its terms of reference were adopted by ECOSOC in July 2014.

The United Nations Interagency Task Force (UNIATF) on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases coordinates the activities of relevant UN organizations and other inter-governmental organizations to support governments to meet high-level commitments to respond to NCD epidemics worldwide. The commitments were made by Heads of State and Government in the 2011 Political Declaration on NCD

📣 Recently published: The investment case for prevention and management of conditions in Jordan 🇯🇴

Mental health conditions are estimated to have cost Jordan economy USD 355.1 million, equivalent to 0.75% of its gross domestic product. The annual costs comprise USD 74.8 million in expenditure and USD 280.1 million in lost productivity due to premature mortality, disability and reduced productivity in the workplace due to , , depression, disorders, and use disorders.
These productivity losses indicate that many sectors could benefit from investing in mental health.

We are delighted to share with you that The Center for Law and Policy Affairs (CLPA) has been selected to receive the 2024 United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) award.
The award ceremony took place on September 25th at 12.00 New York tine during the “Friends of the Task Force” meeting on the margins of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
We would like to express our gratitude to each and every one of our volunteers, advisors, contributors, supporters, and technical team members for helping us to win this honor.
The UN NCD Task Force Awards aim to recognize outstanding achievements in 2023 with a focus on multisectoral action for the prevention and control of NCDs, mental health conditions, and the broader NCD-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year Awards scheme to acknowledged noteworthy contributions in the field of Assistive Technologies for NCDs and mental health.

A recent analysis of Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks (UNSDCFs) rolled out between 2020 and 2023, reveals that only 9 out of 135 countries (7%) included alcohol 🍷 control measures in their UNSDCFs. The report outlines approaches to enhance the prioritization of alcohol 🍸 measures in future UNSDCFs and highlights how various UN agencies can incorporate these measures across different thematic priorities and target populations.

These results will support discussions at the High Level Side event on “Alcohol 🍹 policy for delivering a better present and safeguarding the future” on the 23 of September in New York.

In a significant move towards enhancing road safety in the GCC region, the UN Interagency Task Force on NCDs, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP and the UN Road Safety Fund joined forces with the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the Gulf Health Council and the six GCC countries 🇸🇦 🇶🇦 🇧🇭🇰🇼 🇴🇲 🇦🇪 to review the current state of , the impact of road traffic crashes, and ways to reduce their number and impact in the region.
