Its focus is on promoting gender equality education, medical assistance and community development in rural areas of Sierra Leone. Education For All (EFA) was founded by Martine Coppens in 2003, in response to the lack of adequate schooling available to children living in remote areas. With the help of several generous donors, Education For All has been able to open a Primary School, thereby provi
ding education, uniforms and supplies for hundreds of children from Masantigie and three neighboring villages. As of 2010, Education For All was able to open a centre for adults, and start teaching classes in literacy and sewing. Recently, we have started an agricultural program, and a way for graduating Primary School students to continue onto Secondary School thanks to a Scholarship program. Rapidly growing, Education For All continues to meet the demand for education, renewing hope and possibilities for people in rural Sierra Leone. History of the project :
2003: The previous school structure made of palm leaves collapses.
2004: Construction of the first building. The school is officially opened on October 22, 2004.
2005: Construction of a well.
2007: Construction of a second building.
2009: Construction of the third building.
2010: Opening of a center for adults, literacy and sewing classes.
2012: Scholarship program for graduating Primary School students to continue to Secondary School. Training program for all teachers.
2013: Improvement of facilities like toilets, furniture, and additional sewing materials, thanks to a grant by IDF-Australia.
2014: Agriculture program is started, in order to help provide food for society.
