Is your country’s NCD strategy stalling?

Despite strong policies, many nations are struggling to meet SDG 3.4.1—reducing premature NCD mortality by one-third by 2030.

In a recent masterclass, Dr. Temo K. Waqanivalu from ActioNCD International broke down why "fragmented implementation" is the biggest barrier and how health leaders can shift from being "officers" to "accelerators".

T𝗵𝗲 𝟱𝗣𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸:

To drive real impact, five key forces must move together:

✳️ POWER: Securing political will and high-level champions to remove systemic barriers.

✳️ PEOPLE: Empowering a "ready" workforce with the confidence and technical mastery to lead.

✳️ PARTNERS: Building multi-sectoral collaborations and engaging the private sector and civil society.

✳️ PROGRAM: Implementing WHO "Best Buys"—the most cost-effective interventions like to***co taxation and salt reduction.

✳️ PROCESS: Strengthening health systems through predictable financing and multisectoral coordination.

K𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀:

✅ 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗽": Countries often over-invest in programs while under-investing in the other 4Ps.

✅ 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Your value isn't in administration; it's in aligning these 5 forces into a single engine.

✅ S𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: Use the 5Ps Diagnostic Scorecard to identify gaps and prioritize "Best Buy" interventions.

Noncommunicable diseases like breast cancer affect millions each year. Regular checks and early diagnosis are key steps we can all take to protect health and reduce the impact of NCDs.

Timely diagnosis saves lives. Take a second look 👀 at your breasts.⁣ If you notice changes to your breasts, such as a lump, pitting of the skin or pain, go and see a health practitioner for a check-up. ⁣

Most breast lumps are not cancerous. Those that are, can be more effectively treated if identified early.

✅ Get your annual mammogram done
