The June Coffee Morning, hosted by the United Nations Women’s Guild, brought members together for a warm and enjoyable gathering before the start of the summer break.
The event provided an opportunity to express appreciation to our course leaders and teachers, whose dedication, commitment, and voluntary contributions make our activities possible. It was also a wonderful occasion to spend time together, celebrate friendships, and reflect on another successful season of activities.
Guests enjoyed a delicious selection of food, including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, in a convivial atmosphere filled with gratitude and good company.

A Journey to Al Wahat Al Bahariya 🇪🇬✨
The UN Women’s Guild was delighted to host a captivating Coffee Morning presented by Egypt, offering members a fascinating glimpse into Al Wahat Al Bahariya, a small and mysterious oasis where heritage, history, and a touch of magic meet.
Guests discovered a true melting pot of cultures and traditions, where Egypt’s Pharaonic, Coptic, and Islamic influences have blended over centuries, each leaving its unique mark. The presentation highlighted how the women of the oasis have preserved their rich cultural legacy through their iconic garments, intricate weaving traditions, and remarkable jewellery, keeping their stories alive for generations.
The morning concluded with a delightful opportunity to enjoy authentic Egyptian cuisine and share in the warmth and hospitality of Egypt.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Reem Maguid, spouse of the Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt, for hosting such an enriching and memorable event.

The New Group of African Ambassadors’ Wives of Geneva hosted the Coffee Morning on 14 April, under the inspiring theme
“Making History: Women Behind Africa”. It was an occasion that reminded us that across the African continent, countless women have shaped their nations through courage, steadfast leadership, and unshakeable commitment. The presentations carried us on a journey across Africa, introducing us to extraordinary women who were shaped by their homelands, and who, in turn, helped shape them. Each country highlighted one remarkable figure: a woman who rose to prominence, lifted her nation, and left a legacy that continues to guide and inspire in the arts, in sport, in politics, and in culture. These were women who influenced public life, broke barriers, and stood as role models for generations to come. The guests were treated to delicious treats from each of the countries represented. Le Nouveau Groupe des épouses des ambassadeurs africains à Genève a organisé un café-rencontre le 14 avril, sur le thème inspirant
« Faire l'histoire : les femmes qui façonnent l'Afrique ». Cet événement nous a
rappelé que, sur tout le continent africain, d'innombrables femmes ont façonné leurs nations grâce à leur courage, à leur leadership inébranlable et à leur engagement sans faille. Les présentations nous ont emmenés dans un voyage à travers l’Afrique, nous faisant découvrir des femmes extraordinaires qui ont été façonnées par leur patrie et qui, à leur tour, ont contribué à la façonner. Chaque pays a mis en avant une personnalité remarquable : une femme qui s’est illustrée, a fait progresser sa nation et a laissé un héritage qui continue de guider et d’inspirer dans les arts, le sport, la politique et la culture. Ces femmes ont influencé la vie publique, brisé les barrières et sont devenues des modèles pour les générations futures. Les invités ont pu déguster de délicieuses spécialités provenant de chacun des pays représentés.

Our March Coffee Morning was graciously hosted by the Mission of the Republic of Moldova, together with our dear friend Cristina Morari, spouse of the Permanent Representative of Moldova to the United Nations in Geneva.
Guests enjoyed a fascinating presentation entitled “The Tree of Life in the Tradition of Moldova: From Ancestral Symbol to Country Brand,” which offered a journey through Moldova’s rich craftsmanship heritage, its symbolism, and its continued presence in the country’s visual identity.
The morning concluded with delicious Moldovan treats, and guests were delighted to receive special gifts.

The Arab Ambassadors’ Spouses Group and the Arab Female Ambassadors in Geneva were delighted to welcome the UNWG to a festive and joyful Coffee Morning held in February.
This special gathering took guests on a vibrant cultural journey celebrating the majestic traditions, heritage, and festivities of the Arab world, presented through the theme of “The New Bride”—a symbol of new beginnings and a new chapter in life.
During the event, guests experienced the traditional pre-marriage celebration known as “The Bridal Henna Night,” featuring authentic customs, ceremonial attire, exquisite jewelry, and the artistry of henna.
The morning was filled with cultural charm and a joyful ambiance, enriched by elements of heritage, fashion, henna art, a wide selection of authentic cuisine, and many delightful surprises.
