As women gather in Prague for FDI 2026, let’s celebrate health and fellowship together.
The FDI World Dental Congress brings together women from across the globe: clinicians, academics, researchers, students, leaders, and friends. The Adidas Women’s 5K Run Prague 2026, taking place on 5 September, offers a wonderful opportunity to connect beyond the congress setting.
Whether you choose to run, jog, or walk, this event is a celebration of health, well-being, friendship, and the strength of women united by a shared profession and purpose. It is not about competition, but about coming together, sharing an experience, and creating lasting memories.
If you are travelling to Prague for FDI 2026, we would be delighted to have you join us.
🏃‍♀️ See you in Prague!

On World No To***co Day, we at Women Dentists Worldwide are proud to present The No To***co Campaign: What Women Need to Know because the impact of to***co on women is not only different, it is often underestimated, overlooked, and deeply personal.
For many women, the consequences are not just medical; they are deeply personal. To***co use affects fertility, complicates pregnancy, disrupts hormonal health, and increases the risk of serious diseases. As clinicians, we often witness these effects early, sometimes in the form of oral health changes, and sometimes in ways that affect a woman’s confidence, well-being, and quality of life.
But beyond the individual, the impact extends further. It touches motherhood, family health, and future generations. A habit that may seem personal can quietly influence a child's health, the course of a pregnancy, and a family's well-being.
At the same time, the growing perception of va**ng as a “safer alternative” is creating new challenges, particularly among younger women, despite increasing evidence that these risks are very real.
Through The No To***co Campaign: What Women Need to Know, we bring together evidence-based insights with the collective voice of women dentists from across the world. Our goal is not only to inform but also to connect, to make this issue more relatable, and to encourage women to reflect on choices that profoundly impact their health.
Because this is not just about statistics, it is about lives, futures, and the ability to choose health.
If this message speaks to you, we encourage you to share it. One conversation, one moment of awareness, can be the beginning of change.

Tomorrow, on World No To***co Day, FDI Women Dentists Worldwide will launch *The No To***co Campaign: What Women Need to Know*, a global awareness initiative dedicated to highlighting the unique and often overlooked impact of to***co and va**ng on women's health.

In 1929, a public relations campaign on behalf of the to***co industry changed the way smoking was perceived by women. During New York's Easter Parade, young women were encouraged to smoke publicly in what was presented as a symbolic act of liberation. Ci******es were promoted as "Torches of Freedom," linking smoking with independence, equality, confidence, and modern womanhood. The campaign was remarkably successful.

Over the decades, to***co products were associated with beauty, glamour, slimness, success, freedom, and empowerment. Today, similar themes continue to appear in the marketing of va**ng products, particularly among younger women, reinforcing messages of independence and personal choice.

What was rarely discussed was the cost.

Women face unique health risks. To***co use and va**ng can affect fertility, pregnancy outcomes, hormonal health, menopause, cardiovascular health, bone health, and oral health, while increasing the risk of several diseases that disproportionately affect women. These consequences extend beyond the individual, influencing maternal health, child health, family wellbeing, and future generations.

This belief lies at the heart of *The No To***co Campaign: What Women Need to Know*, which we are proud to launch on 31 May 2026, World No To***co Day.

Through this campaign, women dentists from around the world are coming together to share evidence-based information on the effects of to***co use and va**ng on women's health. Over the coming days, we will explore topics including fertility, pregnancy, hormonal health, oral health, cardiovascular disease, bone health, cancer risks, second-hand smoke, ni****ne dependence, and va**ng.

Our aim is not to judge. Our aim is not to create fear. Our aim is to ensure that every woman has access to the information she needs to make informed decisions about her health.

Join us in the conversation and help share knowledge that empowers women everywhere to make healthier choices.

A global perspective on women in dentistry. This Women Dentists Worldwide survey aimed to collect data from national dental associations on workforce composition, employment patterns, academic representation, specialization, and women’s participation in leadership roles. While women now form a significant proportion of the dental workforce and student body, the findings highlight a continued gap in leadership and advanced specializations, underscoring the need for stronger structural support, mentorship, and inclusive policies to drive meaningful change.
