After years of groundwork, listening, and partnership-building, Extremely Together is now active in the Sahel!
We are proud to launch Extremely Together Niger and Extremely Together Burkina Faso, two new country chapters of our global youth-led initiative to prevent violent extremism.
The Sahel has faced a significant security and humanitarian crisis in recent years, a situation that disproportionately affects young people and their future prospects. Since 2022, the Kofi Annan Foundation has been working to develop a meaningful, locally grounded response to these challenges.
Last week, that commitment became reality.
In close collaboration with local youth organisations, Cercle.Dev in Niger and Association SUUDU ANDAL in Burkina Faso, these new chapters will support young people’s actions for peace and social cohesion in their communities.
Extremely Together in the Sahel is rooted in a simple conviction: young people must be part of the solution. By strengthening youth capacities, supporting peer-to-peer learning, and promoting their inclusion in decision-making spaces, we aim to help ensure that young people have a real stake in shaping a more peaceful future.
This launch marks a significant milestone and the beginning of a new chapter of youth-led peacebuilding in the region.
