🌿Keeping the Olive Oil Project Moving Forward

During the Eid al-Adha in Syria, our team made the most of the quiet period to carry out essential maintenance on the tractor and agricultural machinery supporting the Olive Oil Project 🚜🔧

The tractor was carefully cleaned, and several parts were replaced to ensure everything stays in top condition for the upcoming field activities ✅

The project continues moving forward behind the scenes to support farmers and prepare for the next stages of cultivation 🌱

Grateful to our partner IACO and the generous support from the EA Foundation 🙏

💧We are happy to share the start of the water component of our WAP II project in Ethiopia.

Initial activities are now underway, including identifying the water point site, meeting with community members to discuss the planned activities, and beginning the excavation work.

The image at the top of the second slide shows the community’s current water source conditions, highlighting the importance of improving safe and reliable access to water.

We look forward to following the progress of the project and sharing the next steps with you 🌍

We are grateful to our implementing partner Agri Service Ethiopia, and the contribution of Ville de Genève, Commune de Collonge-Bellerive, and Commune de Vandœuvres for making this possible.

This week, 21 Community Learning Forum (CoLF) facilitators (including 8 women) were trained on CoLF principles, facilitation skills, savings and credit management, and small business skills.

Selected by members of the seven CoLF groups established in WAP 2 so far, they will play a key role in guiding community learning, savings, and livelihood activities.

The training also included experience-sharing from WAP I facilitators, helping new groups build on proven community practices.

We are grateful to our implementing partner Agri Service Ethiopia, and the contribution of Ville de Genève, Commune de Collonge-Bellerive, and Commune de Vandœuvres for making this possible.

☀️ Solar energy is coming to the fields.

We are thrilled to share that our solar-powered agricultural units have arrived!

Every component is being carefully checked and this week, we head out to the field for a critical milestone: testing our solar panels under real conditions, making sure they can reliably power irrigation systems for the farmers who depend on them.

Here's what's coming next:
🔆 Units will be branded and officially announced before deployment
💧 Target villages for irrigation support will be identified
📅 Operations will run from early June through September

This is about giving farmers the power to grow, to irrigate, and to build a future on their own terms 🌿

We are grateful to our partner IACO and to the generous support of the NextEnergy Foundation 🙏

🚜 From the cab of a tractor, the fields of Al-Bab are transforming.

Row by row, our farmers are cultivating the soil between the olive trees, breaking up the earth, aerating the ground, and clearing the way of weeds for our trees to breathe and grow strong.

📸 These shots, taken straight from the tractor, capture what this project really looks like on the ground: the rich soil of northern Syria being turned and prepared with care.

This week, we completed the first phase: 15 farmers, 33 hectares, 8,000 olive trees across Al-Bab. And expansion to new areas is already underway. 🌿

Grateful to our partner IACO and the generous support from the EA Foundation 🙏
