Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF

Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is the world's leading independent international medical relief organization, implementing and managing medical projects in close to 72 countries worldwide and as a worldwide movement of 25 associations, 24 sections, 17 offices and 6 operational entities. Our work focuses on emergency medical and humanitarian relief. We are guided by the princ

iples of independence, neutrality and impartiality, as described in the MSF Charter. We implement our medical programs in areas where no health or sanitary systems exist, or where health structures are overwhelmed by the needs of populations. For 50 years, we have been providing medical assistance to people affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters, disease epidemics, malnutrition crises and other emergencies. We offer medical and humanitarian assistance to people based on their needs - irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. We observe neutrality in situations of conflict, and impartiality in the name of medical ethics. To ensure our independence, the majority of our funding is provided by private donations from members of the public. Additional funding may come from foundations, governments and international institutions.

One month on, the Ebola disease outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo is outpacing response efforts.

Multiple factors are necessary to contain the spread of the disease, like surveillance, diagnosis, contact tracing, and community engagement. Yet gaps persist in these areas, despite the recent scale-up in the response.

Despite the recent scale-up in the Ebola disease response in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), major gaps in surveillance, diagnosis, contact tracing and community engagement persist.

🗣️ “My friend was executed in front of my eyes.”
🗣️ “There was never enough food for everyone.”
🗣️ “GHF was so humiliating…”

One year ago, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) started operating militarised food distribution points in Gaza, Palestine. Today, our teams are still treating people for the injuries they received when they desperately sought food.

Hear from our colleagues and patients about the devastating consequences of this cynical aid scheme:

A year after a cynical programme to provide food "aid" to Gazans opened, the survivors of the horrors at the sites continue to suffer.

South Sudan:

🔴 Attacks by all parties to the conflict have made violence a daily reality in the country.

These attacks, targeted and indiscriminate, are increasingly blocking communities from accessing lifesaving care.

We call on all parties to the conflict to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, including healthcare.

In South Sudan, escalating violence is increasingly harming people and undermining access to lifesaving care. MSF's latest report details the violence people face in the country, including attacks on healthcare.

⚠️ Israel’s manufactured malnutrition crisis in Gaza had devastating impacts on pregnant women and their newborns.

At two hospitals in Gaza, our teams analysed data from 201 recent mothers between June 2025 and January 2026:

🔴 Over half were affected by malnutrition at some point during their pregnancy.
🔴 25% were still malnourished during delivery.

Malnutrition was almost non-existent in Gaza before the war. Israel’s blockade on the entry of food, the militarisation of food distribution, and attacks on essential infrastructure, have created an environment where hunger is used as a means to control people.

📢 The Israeli authorities, and their allied states, must facilitate the adequate and sustained entry of vital assistance into Gaza.

10 years ago today, the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2286. Over 80 Member States committed to protect medical humanitarian work.

Yet in many of the areas affected by conflict where we work, hospitals, health workers and patients are still being attacked.

The consequences are grave. People are killed and injured. Communities lose access to lifesaving medical care.

⏰ “States who committed to protecting medical care back in 2016 must stop hiding behind excuses and finger-pointing, and act.”

Ten years after the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2286, MSF is calling on states to respect their commitment made in the resolution, and protect medical care.

“Israeli authorities know that without water life ends, yet they have deliberately and systematically obliterated water infrastructure in Gaza…”

The Israeli authorities have been depriving people of water in Gaza. By destroying infrastructure and blocking supplies, the scarcity of water is being engineered. With these conditions, it is simply not possible to provide people with sufficient water.

But as our colleague says above, water = life. This deprivation of water is having far-reaching consequences on people’s:
🔴 Health
🔴 Hygiene
🔴 Dignity

We’re urging the Israeli authorities to immediately restore water for people at the required levels in Gaza. Learn more in our latest report:

MSF's latest report documents how Israeli authorities have used access to water and sanitation services as a weapon to collectively punish people in Gaza, Palestine.

In places where victims and survivors of violence face stigma, how can we respond to their needs without placing them in even greater danger? For our teams in Papua New Guinea’s Highlands region, the answer is providing trustworthy care that is strictly confidential.

Women in the region face sexual violence, domestic abuse, and sorcery accusation-related violence. After being attacked, the struggle of finding safe care quickly begins.

Learn how we’re improving care for victims and survivors of violence:

📢 Sudan needs the world to act now, not later.

The warring parties are harming and killing civilians with impunity. And without basic necessities like healthcare, food, and protection, people are dying from preventable causes.

This continues because of political failure.

While three years of war have passed, it is not too late for meaningful action. The warring parties must protect civilians and be held accountable for their violations, and the international community must use diplomatic pressure to prevent further crimes.

As Sudan marks three years of war, violence and atrocities continue to devastate the lives of millions of people, and constrained humanitarian access is compounding suffering.

In markets and displacement camps.
On farmland and roads.

Sexual violence is everywhere in Darfur, Sudan. Ruth Kauffman, our emergency health manager, says it’s “not confined to frontlines, but pervasive across communities.”

In our new report, we call on all parties to the conflict – including the Rapid Support Forces and their supporters – to cease and prevent sexual violence and hold perpetrators accountable, and on the United Nations, donors and humanitarian organisations to urgently scale up health and protection services.

Our latest report on Sudan documents widespread and systematic sexual violence across roads, fields and displacement camps in Darfur, both in areas affected by conflict and far from frontlines.

Wherever our teams are in Ukraine, we meet people who have had their lives torn apart by the full-scale war. During mobile clinics at displacement shelters, people share stories about their once warm homes, beautiful gardens, and bustling neighbourhoods.

Hear from them and learn more about our work in Ukraine:

The war in Ukraine has forced people from their homes and destroyed hospitals. MSF is providing medical and psychological care across Ukraine, including near frontlines.
