A timely op-ed just published by the World Economic Forum. Written by PoliSync’s Managing Director Cecilia Cannon and Director of PoliSync’s Migration Shift Hub Marie McAuliffe, it makes a compelling case for why we must not give up on international cooperation.

Here are some of the key points:
🔹 The multilateral system is facing its most sustained legitimacy crisis in decades. Institutions built to foster cooperation are being undermined, while fear-driven disinformation has moved from the fringes into the political mainstream.
🔹 A dangerous sense of inevitability has taken hold among policymakers and civil society that the rules-based multilateral system is finished, giving way to raw power.
🔹 The erosion of trust is measurable: across 34 countries, fewer than half of respondents believe international cooperation serves their personal interests. Trust in the UN has declined in 23 out of 27 countries between 2021 and 2024.
🔹 Yet much of what holds daily life together - aviation safety, medicine standards, humanitarian law, democratic norms - is the quiet result of international cooperation. These systems only become visible when they fail.
🔹 The antidote? Rebuilding public trust through genuine connection with people around the world–grounded in evidence, open dialogue, and shared understanding. That means acknowledging real fears and the shortcomings of the multilateral system so that meaningful reform can take shape, while making clear what’s at stake if we let it unravel. Cooperation must also be reclaimed for what it was always meant to be: a space where actors confront differences around a table rather than on the battlefield, and forge agreements on shared issues through dialogue and constructive debate.
🔹 Anchored in Geneva, Stronger Together (https://www.polisync.org/stronger-together) brings together actors across sectors and regions to pool evidence and translate it into meaningful public engagement and advocacy.

International organizations must rebuild trust in multilateralism through dialogue and shared understanding, write leaders of the PoliSync Centre for International Policy Engagement.

🌍 What makes Geneva irreplaceable and why it matters?

At the International Conference "Urban Spaces, Migrant Lives" organised by Broad-Er Bridging the Migration and Urban Studies Nexus, Marie McAuliffe, Director of PoliSync's Migration Shift Hub, made the case for preserving one of the world's most critical diplomatic assets: International Geneva.

Home to 43 international organizations, 184 member states and over 30,000 diplomats, civil servants and civil society leaders, Geneva is far more than a city - it is the world's foremost multilateral hub, ranked #1 for diplomacy in 2024. It is where Global South and Global North voices converge on the issues of peace and security, human rights, migration and displacement.

As the world grows more uncertain and fragile, preserving this space is a strategic necessity.

At PoliSync's Migration Shift Hub, we believe this kind of international architecture matters. It's where forward-looking, human-centered migration policy gets shaped. We're proud to be part of this ecosystem, and proud of Marie for bringing PoliSync's perspective to conversations like these.

15+ AI tools your can actually use.

Practical. Accessible. Immediately useful.

We mapped out 15 of the tools our GenAI experts teach in our Certificate in for Social Good – from Notebook LM to Power Automate, Scite and Canva.

But here’s the important part:

👉 It’s not really about the tools.

There are dozens of AI tools out there, and new ones appear every week. We’re not here to promote specific platforms.

What our experts consistently show is this:
High-impact results don’t come from the tool.
They come from how you use it.

It’s about:
🔷 Strong prompting
🔷 Smart workflows
🔷 Responsible use
🔷 Clear use cases
🔷 Integrating AI into real nonprofit systems

We’ve simply curated a cross-section of tools that are currently useful for nonprofits — because they help teams:
▫️ Save time
▫️ Strengthen research
▫️ Streamline operations
▫️ Improve fundraising
▫️ Tell better stories

💬 Tell us in the comments, which one are you excited to try? Or tag a colleague who would find this useful.

🚀 Want to use AI with confidence, not just experiment with it?
Our next round of FREE courses kicks off 2 March.
