🇳🇵 Happy Republic Day – Ganatantra Diwas 🇳🇵

Today, Nepal celebrates Ganatantra Diwas, Republic Day.
On May 28, 2008, Nepal was officially declared a democratic federal republic, marking the beginning of a new era of participation and hope. ✨

This day commemorates the courage of the many people who fought for democracy, freedom and a more just future. ❤️

Today, we celebrate not only Nepal’s history, but also the diversity, strength and culture of the country and its people. 🇳🇵🌸

Sapana wishes everyone a wonderful Republic Day! 🙏

The community came together in front of the library to create vibrant Rangoli/Alpana patterns, beautiful symbols of good luck and prosperity. 🌈

Did you know that reading regularly can reduce stress, boost empathy and support mental wellness?

Whether it’s a short story or a few pages before bed, reading helps us connect — to ourselves and to others. 💫

The diversity of our workshops at Sapana Library: creativity, community and education in focus 👨‍🎨 👩‍🎓

Since opening in November 2023, our librarians have conducted various workshops focusing on creativity, community and education. Our goal is to establish the Sapana Library in the village of Khoramukh and the surrounding area as an important place for education and exchange. 💪

Some highlights included traditional kite making during the Hindu Dashain festival, which encouraged creative expression and teamwork. Another popular workshop was "Storytelling around the fire", where our librarians told the children exciting stories from picture books. 📚 🔥

We also organized workshops on social and health topics such as
💡 The female body, to show women exactly what goes on in the body during pregnancy, among other things
💡 Rural nutrition to provide information about a balanced diet and malnutrition in rural areas
💡 Common diseases in order to recognize symptoms at an early stage if necessary and to communicate measures

These workshops were conducted by professional medical staff and provided valuable information as well as a safe environment for exchange.

We also focused on promoting reading skills. A workshop on "Reading with children" enabled us to support children in their reading habits and familiarize them even more with the library. We organized a spelling competition with prizes for the winners, which will be held again due to high demand from pupils. 🥇 🥈 🥉

We look forward to holding the next workshop soon! ❤️

We made it!🎉

Our community library with children's area was opened in the Nepalese village of Khoramukh! It was definitely two exhausting months, which brought with them a multitude of todo's and challenges.

To name just a few of the tasks:
🌟 Painting walls
🌟 Installing electricity & lights
🌟 Building and painting furniture & toilets
🌟 Collecting and labeling books
🌟 Decide on the book sorting and lending system
🌟 Selecting the librarians and training them
🌟 Planning & conducting the first workshops
and so on.

But it was worth it! The library looks much nicer than we ever imagined, with lots of attention to detail - especially in the children's area.

We are happy to hand the library over to the local community, but we are still there to support.

The project is not yet complete after the opening: Now it's about encouraging visitors and generating a sustainable source of income so that the library can last for many generations.

We are happy to share some pictures of what the library looks like today.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our patrons and supporters. Without you, this would never have been possible!

Have a nice day! 🌞
