✍️ The Life and Work of Helene Finckh

The new permanent exhibition at the Helene Finckh House honors the extraordinary work of a woman who achieved remarkable things behind the scenes.

Beginning in 1916, Helene Finckh stenographically recorded more than 3,000 lectures by Rudolf Steiner. Her notes—later deciphered and transcribed—remain a fundamental source for the study and understanding of Anthroposophy to this day.

Kepler 1604 and the New Will-Based Thinking

A contribution by Detlef Hardorp for the Mathematical Study Conference in October 2025 at the Goetheanum (in German | subtitles · DE · EN):

In this fascinating lecture, Detlef Hardorp connects Rudolf Steiner’s idea of mathematics as the first stage of supersensible perception with topology, projective geometry, and Kepler’s revolutionary thinking. He vividly explains how children experience space (Piaget), contrasts Greek static thinking (circle vs. line) with Cusanus’ coincidence of opposites, and reveals Kepler’s genius insight: conic sections (line, hyperbola, parabola, ellipse, circle) as fluid transitions rather than rigid separations. A must for anyone who wants to experience geometry as something living.

The way Anthroposophy portrays human destiny in relation to the spiritual hierarchies leads into the realm of a spiritual study of the human being. Rudolf Steiner addresses this theme in General Anthroposophy, such as in the nineteen Class Lessons, as well as in his "Anthroposophical Leading Thoughts" and the Karma Lectures.

The Michaelmas Conference at the Goetheanum, in this special commemorative year, is dedicated to Rudolf Steiner as both learner and teacher. Based on his biography, it shows how deeply his life was shaped by learning and working – from the searching schoolchild to the young tutor, and later the educator who continued learning through his students. Anyone interested in how a modern, spiritual culture of learning can emerge will gain a fascinating insight here.
