Have you ever heard of guilloché ? 🤔

Guilloché work is a decorative technique creating precise and repetitive patterns on metal using a specialized lathe or “tour à guillocher” in French.

What surprises the most? There is no electricity. The machine is entirely operated by hand.

Patterns have poetic names like Clou de Paris, Grain d’orge or Côte de Genève. ✨

Keeping this centuries-old technique alive is one of the exciting aspects of Swiss watchmaking. ⌚

A joy of colours at Watches and Wonders 2026 🌈

Piaget’s booth was a celebration of ornamental stones 💎 and the fusion of jewellery and watchmaking ✨, deeply rooted in the Maison’s heritage of using vibrant, natural stones since the 1960s.

The Swinging Pebbles collection stole our hearts ❤️: pendant watches (sautoirs) carved from single blocks of tiger’s eye, verdite, and pietersite, each with a hidden watch dial and suspended from a hand-twisted gold chain.

Stone dials were on display across the Polo 79, Altiplano, and Sixtie collections, including a sodalite dial for the Polo 79 and a blue quartz dial for the Sixtie, cut to just 0.4mm thick.

High Jewellery shined with the Sixtie Cuff watch, reimagined with a black opal dial and Piaget’s signature « Decor Palace » gold engraving 👑.

Swept away by the Chanel wave 🌊 at Watches and Wonders 2026

Chanel introduced a new gem-setting technique called the « tweed setting » ✨ to render the iconic tweed texture of Coco Chanel’s suit in diamonds and gold. The difficulty lay in replicating the intricate, woven texture of tweed at such a small scale.

This technique was used to create a 3D, woven effect 💎 on the Gabrielle Watch and the queen chess pieces, where the entire figure of Coco Chanel is sculpted in white gold and set with hundreds of diamonds.

New releases also included the Manchette Nœud de Camélia 🎀, a nod to couture with its ribbon and diamond design, the Première Galon line in white gold, and the J12 in a fascinating new blue ceramic.

Last but not least, Chanel unveiled a sautoir (long necklace) featuring a pixelated figure of Gabrielle Chanel as part of its Coco Game capsule collection. This piece was inspired by retro video games and the Minecraft-style pixel art. The sautoir includes a miniature watch dial on the reverse, creating the surprise when you twist it! 😲

The breath of the pine forest 🌲 blows over Watches and Wonders.

At Jaeger-LeCoultre, one could live an immersion into the landscapes and forests of the Vallée de Joux, the brand’s home.

In front of a spectacular pine tree sculpted from ice ❄️, one could admire the Master Hybris Inventiva Gyrotourbillon À Stratosphère, notable for its triple-axis tourbillon, which achieves exceptional precision.

The Métiers d’art displayed included enamelling, guillochage, gem-setting, and lacquer work. These rare crafts were showcased through pieces like the Reverso Tribute Enamel editions inspired by Hokusai’s Waterfalls, the « Vallée des Merveilles » capsule collection, and the intricate finishes on the Calibre 178 movement.

“Explore all ways possible,” the motto of Vacheron Constantin, born from the writings of François Constantin in 1819, is a call to continually push the boundaries of excellence and creativity. 🚀

The theme of the booth embodies this founding motto. It invites us to go beyond the boundaries of watchmaking mechanics, discover new cultural and artistic horizons 🎨, and explore heritage and legacy—all encouraging us to look further, think differently, and unleash creative energy.

In collaboration with artist Shan Jiang, this year’s theme takes us on a poetic voyage through Vacheron Constantin’s latest masterpieces. ⌚

Highlights from Watches and Wonders 2026 🤩

Founded in Florence in 1860, Panerai quickly partnered with the Italian Royal Navy to design precision instruments, leading to the development of its first dive watch prototype in 1935. 🌊⌚

Watches and Wonders 2026 was the opportunity for Panerai to unveil a collection of hand-wound tool watches inspired by the 1930s and 1940s, when the brand focused on meeting the needs of underwater missions.

This year’s highlights? The Luminor PAM01735 and the Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629, both carrying the legendary Luminor DNA.

Highlights from Watches and Wonders 2026 🤩

Let’s take a close look at the « Atelier des Etablisseurs ». Audemars Piguet revives here the 18th-century établissage tradition, crafting ultra-limited timepieces that combine rare artisanal skills, collaboration, and avant-garde design.

This concept comes to life with the launch of three creations: the Etablisseurs Galets, the Etablisseurs Nomade, and the Etablisseurs Peacock.

Did you know that « galet » means « pebble » in French?
