On August 28, 2026, Human Front Aid was in Mayaky, near Odesa, supporting families affected by the ongoing war.
We were able to provide direct assistance to 60 families, including cash help for people whose homes had been badly damaged.
Mayaky lies on an important route connecting Odesa and southern Ukraine with Moldova and Romania. The bridge in this area has repeatedly been targeted by Russian missiles and drones, and the surrounding community continues to live with the consequences of these attacks.
We also visited three families whose homes had been severely damaged in an attack about a week earlier. Seeing the destruction up close makes one thing very clear: people here need support now, not later.
The community also showed us a vehicle used to transport schoolchildren and people with disabilities. It was damaged and urgently needs repair. We are currently assessing whether Human Front Aid can help get it back on the road as quickly as possible so it can once again serve the surrounding villages and the local community.
This is what direct humanitarian aid looks like: being there, listening, and helping where the need is greatest.
