European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA) EURETINA is the European Society of Retina Specialists.

The primary business of the Society is the organization of the annual congress. This 3.5 day congress aims to bring delegates together to establish personal contacts and to promote the exchange of knowledge between vitreoretinal and macula specialists in Europe. Specialists in the area of retina are invited to attend and present lectures and to share new techniques from all over the world. The key educational objective of the congress is to provide delegates with the most up to date information on new developments and studies in the field of retina. This is achieved through a number of media: main sessions, instructional courses and hands-on surgical skills training courses, didactic courses, key-note lectures, satellite symposia and free paper sessions. The Society comprises of a Board of Officers who are responsible for the general management of the Society. Five years of mentorship, collaboration and professional development.

Since its launch in 2021, the Euretina Mentorship Programme has connected early-career retina specialists with experienced mentors from around the world.

The programme is now entering its next chapter with the launch of the Euretina Mentorship Alumni Network, which extends connections beyond the initial mentorship period and creates new opportunities for collaboration.

Five years of Women in Retina: what has changed, and what comes next?

Since its launch in 2021, the Euretina Women in Retina initiative has grown to become a key part of the Society’s Roadmap 2025, supporting mentorship, professional connections, research collaboration, and greater visibility for women across the retina community.

In a new editorial, Prof. Anat Loewenstein reflects on the progress made over the past five years, as well as the work that remains. 'More women are taking active roles as speakers, investigators, mentors and leaders at international retina meetings and within collaborative research initiatives.'
