INASCON (International NAnoscience Student CONference) is an annual conference organised by students, for students. We aim to attract early-career scientists from nanoscience, nanotechnology and nanomaterials-related degrees or disciplines. The aim of the conference is to focus on students. This is in contrast to most conferences where usually the more established researchers are placed in the spotlight. A key criterion for future innovation in the field of nanotechnology will be teamwork between Universities. To facilitate this teamwork, we feel that it is essential for students to begin networking as early as possible. Another key function of this conference is that it will be an eye-opener to different research fields within nanotechnology, so the students are not limited in their choice of research by the projects at their University. A natural consequence of learning more about research at other Universities would be exchange of students, where the student could bring skills learned abroad back to their University, contributing to a greater basis of knowledge and techniques that are essential for ground-breaking discoveries. In addition, it cannot be denied that the nanotechnology landscape will be characterized by interdisciplinary research projects. Therefore the conference focuses not on special research fields but instead aims to give a broad overview of the ongoing work across nanoscience.
