Today Pack 681 laid a wreath during the Remembrance Service at the Anglican Church in Basel. Cubs created the wreath themselves last weekend, using clay, cardboard and recycled plastic to make poppies they then painted. This was a wonderful activity after walking together to the Fliegerdenkmal near Aesch, where we talked about what remembrance means and why it is so important. Today, leaders and parents were proud of our cubs who carried their wreath to the front of the service and stood respectfully throughout the dedication and the playing of the Last Post....
'They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old,
age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn,
at the going down of the sun,
and in the morning,
we will remember them.'
(Laurence Binyon, 1914)
