Less waste, more freedom. ⏳ 3 days to go!

Living with less waste isn’t about giving things up. It’s about gaining something: new skills, a little extra money in your pocket, and a calmer home.

On 17 October you’ll mix up your own natural products from simple ingredients, like a deodorant you take home the same day. Once you’ve made it yourself, you start seeing everyday things differently. You know exactly what’s inside, you spend less, and you get to say “I made this” with a smile.

So here’s a question to take with you: if you can make your own deodorant, what else might you be able to make?

What’s in store for the afternoon:
✅ A fun look at the circular economy, and why it’s good for your wallet
🧴 Hands-on making of natural products to bring home
📵 A slower pace, with a break from your screen and some stress relief

📅 Sat, 17.10., 14:30-18:00
🗣️ In English
📍 QuBa Basel, Bachlettenstrasse 12
🎟️ Only CHF 40 for the whole program, subsidised by the City of Basel. One price per household, no matter how many of you come along.

Throwback to last year's "Less Waste, More Freedom" workshop

An afternoon of hands-on ideas, knowledge boost, and making natural products to take home — plus a session with Beáta Szablics of , certified nature and forest therapy guide, who helped us slow down and reconnect with the nature around us. 🌱

It's not about replacing one habit with another. It's about rethinking — and rethinking sticks better when you're not doing it alone.

Small shifts, made together, go a long way.

And guess what — we're doing it again. 👇

Less waste, more freedom.

It's not about taking things away, it's about adding.

At this workshop you'll make your own natural products from simple ingredients, like a deodorant you can whip up yourself and take home. Doing things yourself changes how you look at everyday objects: you spend less, you know exactly what's in the products you use, and you get the small joy of saying "I made this myself."

A little more creativity, a little more savings, and a lighter feeling with less clutter and less stress.

And if you can make your own deodorant, what else could you make that you don't know about yet?

Join us for an afternoon of simple, hands-on ideas:
♻ Discover how the circular economy works (and why it's good for your wallet)
🧴 Make natural products and take them home
📵 Slow down: less stress, a break from screens

📅 Sat, 17.10., 14:30-18:00
📍 QuBa Basel, Bachlettenstrasse 12
🎟️ Just 40 CHF for the whole program (subsidised by the City of Basel). Price applies to the household regardless of the number of members.

Here's something surprising: the "diet of the future" isn't a strict new plan — it's largely a return to how people have eaten for generations.
Lentils, whole grains, beans, plenty of vegetables — many traditional cuisines around the world were built this way long before anyone called it the Planetary Health Diet.

Following it is linked to real, tangible perks for you: more energy, better long-term health, and a lower risk of things like diabetes and heart disease.

No need to overhaul everything at once — pick one meal this week and give it a try.

This past Saturday, our "Food, Flavour and Impact" Workshop brought participants together for an afternoon that turned out to be about far more than just food.

Guided by Michaela Kuijvenhoven, an expert in gamification for sustainability, participants explored the connection between climate and lifestyle, reflected on their own carbon footprints, and were challenged by her with honest, sometimes tricky questions.

One idea that stayed with the group: knowledge alone doesn't change anything – it's only when it turns into action that new habits form. And habits, in turn, inspire others.

The participants took their first step into action together, preparing a food-waste pesto from nutritious radish leaves. Using the Planetary Health Diet as a starting point, they took a close look at their own eating habits – not chasing perfection, but small, realistic steps.

The group also went on a virtual journey through their own homes, tracing where food waste actually happens and inspiring each other with practical solutions along the way.

Three challenges the group is taking into the coming weeks:
🌱 More plant-based meals
♻ Being more mindful about food waste
🍞 Making more things at home instead of buying them

Food nourishes us — yet nearly ⅓ of what we produce ends up wasted.

We often take it for granted, but slowing down and choosing mindfully what we truly need can change that. It's not about perfection — it's about small, everyday habits that add up.

Local consumption is more than buying nearby—it is about strengthening connections between people, producers and place.

When we choose local businesses, we support shorter supply chains, reduce transport emissions and help build a more resilient city.

In Basel, inspiring initiatives make this easy. With , you can explore the city’s sustainable side through guided walks that connect local projects, businesses and stories.
