🌻 School begins when a child feels there is a place waiting for them
This week at Il Girasole is dedicated to harmonisation.
The children in their final year of Kindergarten join the older pupils and experience their first lessons in Primary School: they observe, explore, communicate, try things out, and begin to discover the spaces, times, rhythms and rituals of Primary School.
In this way, after the summer, the new beginning will not feel like a leap into the unknown, but like a place that is already a little familiar. A new chapter to look forward to with confidence and joy.
At Il Girasole, harmonisation is part of a living everyday practice: Kindergarten and Primary School share spaces, relationships and the same educational vision.
This transition reflects the spirit of HarmoS and the "Lehrplan21": building continuity, supporting the development of competences, and making the path from Kindergarten to Primary School a progressive journey rather than a rupture.
For the teachers, too, it is a valuable opportunity: it allows them to begin getting to know the group, observe resources, needs and dynamics, and plan the new school year with careful attention to differentiation, inclusion and the reality of multi-grade classes.
Because transitions become gentler when children can step into the new already feeling expected. 🌱

🌻 Our school is a garden.

We are proud to share that the Kindergarten and Primary School of Il Girasole took part in the VI Bienal Internacional de Arte y Escuela, held from 15 to 29 May in Torre del Mar, Málaga — an international celebration of art, education and creativity.

For us, this participation is more than an exhibition.
It is a way to share what we believe in every day:

At Il Girasole, our bilingual Italian-German school in Basel, every child is welcomed like a seed.

With care, light and patience, each child finds their own time, their own way and their own colours to grow.

Through sunflowers, flower fields, Gaudí-inspired mosaics, caricatures, landscapes and still life, our children expressed their unique ways of seeing and transforming the world.

In a time when school is often measured through numbers, learning objectives and accountability, this Bienal reminds us of something essential: education is also about art, beauty, expression and the shared joy of creating.

A heartfelt thank you to Doris Dario for inviting us to be part of this beautiful project, and to Maestra Giusi Fortino for personally bringing our children’s artworks to Málaga and making our participation possible.

Geburtstage in der Kita🥳

Geburtstage sind in der Kita immer etwas ganz Besonderes. Gemeinsam feiern die Kinder mit Liedern, Spielen und kleinen Überraschungen 😆
Es wird gelacht, geteilt und zusammen ein schöner Tag erlebt, an den sich alle gern erinnern

In der Malstunde können die Kinder spielerisch ihre Feinmotorik, Konzentration und Kreativität entwickeln. Beim Malen lernen sie, Farben und Formen zu kombinieren und ihre Ideen auszudrücken. Gleichzeitig werden soziale Fähigkeiten und Selbstbewusstsein gefördert.

Fasnachtswelt in unserer Kita

In unserer Kita wurde es bunt und fröhlich – die Fasnachtswelt ist eingezogen und hat unseren Alltag in ein kleines Fest verwandelt.
Mit kreativen Kostümen, fantasievollen Bastelideen und viel Musik haben wir gemeinsam gelacht, getanzt und gefeiert. Die Kinder konnten in verschiedene Rollen schlüpfen und ihrer Kreativität freien Lauf lassen.
Ein besonderes Erlebnis voller Freude, Gemeinschaft und vielen strahlenden Augen.

Wir freuen uns, Sie zum zweiten Open Day des Girasole im laufenden Schuljahr einzuladen.
Eine einzigartige Gelegenheit, unsere Bildungsrealität von innen kennenzulernen, ihre Räume zu besichtigen und diejenigen zu treffen, die sie Tag für Tag gestalten.
Während des Open Days haben Sie die Möglichkeit, unseren bilingualen Ansatz kennenzulernen, Lehrkräfte, Kinder und Eltern zu treffen und die Bildungswege vom Kindergarten bis zur Primarschule zu entdecken.

Grandi novità dal Girasole!

Le nostre pagelle di 6a sono state ufficialmente riconosciute dal Cantone Basilea Città. 🎉 Significa che i nostri allievi possono ora passare direttamente dal Girasole alla scuola secondaria pubblica, senza esame di ammissione!
Siamo molto orgogliosi di questo traguardo, che riflette la qualità e l’impegno della nostra meravigliosa comunità di insegnanti, allievi e famiglie.

Wunderbare Neuigkeiten von Il Girasole! 🎉

Unsere 6.-Klasse-Zeugnisse sind offiziell vom Kanton Basel-Stadt anerkannt worden. Das bedeutet, dass unsere Schülerinnen und Schüler nun direkt und ohne Aufnahmeprüfung von Il Girasole in die öffentliche Sekundarschule übertreten können.
Wir sind sehr stolz auf diesen Meilenstein, der die Qualität und das Engagement unseres zweisprachigen (Italienisch–Deutsch) Unterrichts sowie unserer grossartigen Gemeinschaft aus Lehrpersonen, Kindern und Familien widerspiegelt.
