♻️ More than just a bin.

Our waste bins in Indonesia are becoming educational tools. This photo was taken this morning at a school where students are actively collecting and sorting plastic waste.

Small actions create big change. By learning today, these children help build a cleaner tomorrow. 🌏💚

TODAY WE CELEBRATE!

We have some really nice news to share today:
We were able to sell our first washed PET bottles collected through our local waste management project 🙏💚

This is an important first step and shows that our recycling system is slowly starting to work.
From collecting and sorting to washing and preparing the PET bottles for sale — all your help and support made this possible.

Thank you all for being part of this journey.
Step by step we are building something meaningful together for Manado and the environment 🌍♻️

📚♻️ Education meets environmental action in Indonesia!

Trash Waste Solutions is not only building recycling systems in Manado — the NGO is also investing in the next generation through hands-on environmental education on Bunaken and Siladen Island. 🌴

Around 50 children from local primary schools are already taking part in a practical learning programme focused on:
🌱 Plastic pollution awareness
🌊 Ocean protection
♻️ Sustainable waste management
💡 Long-term environmental responsibility

Swiss teachers Michèle and Marc are currently on-site for four months, working closely with local schools and teachers to inspire sustainable thinking and real behavioural change.

At the same time, the project continues expanding:
🚛 Local waste collection system
🏗️ Recycling centre infrastructure
🗑️ New collection points across the region
♻️ PET bottles entering the recycling loop

This is what real impact looks like: cleaner streets, less plastic in the ocean, and empowered communities shaping a more sustainable future. 🌍✨

Trash Waste Solutions is a small NGO based in Switzerland. Together with volunteers and partners around the world, the organisation pursues a clear vision: to actively tackle the growing challenges posed by plastic pollution and the global waste problem – particularly within the sensitive (underwater) ecosystem.

🌍 What if plastic waste could become part of the solution instead of the problem?

In Manado, Indonesia, far too much plastic ends up in the ocean instead of proper recycling systems. But change is happening — step by step. ♻️

Trash Waste Solutions is building a local movement that turns waste into opportunity:
✅ Structured waste collection
✅ PET plastic recycling
✅ New collection points across the city
✅ Community engagement & environmental awareness
✅ A scalable model for sustainable impact

Because sustainability starts with people, awareness, and action. Together, we can reduce plastic pollution, protect marine ecosystems, and create cleaner communities for future generations. 🌊✨

From cleanup to plastic intervention ↗

Since 2023, our beach cleanup initiatives in Manado have removed over 10,000 kg of waste, including 6,000 kg of plastic. 💪

However, cleanup alone is not a sustainable solution.
Plastic pollution must be addressed at its source — within urban systems, households, and businesses.

We are now expanding our work by initiating a recycling initiative in Manado,
supporting local startups and developing PET collection systems.

Our objective is to reduce plastic leakage to landfills and the ocean through structured waste management.

From cleanup to plastic intervention.
