This week, we are invited to pause, breathe, and open our hearts to the love God pours out so freely upon us.
St. Francis of Assisi reminds us that God’s love can be encountered in the simplest of things, through creation, community, compassion, and acts of humble service. When we open our hearts to that love, we are transformed, and we become more able to share that same love with others.
✨ This week, let us ask:
Where is God inviting me to receive His love more deeply? And how can I share that love with someone who needs it?
May our hearts become more open, more grateful, and more willing to love as Christ loves us.
🙏 “Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.”

We're excited to share an upcoming conference that we know will resonate with many in our community. The World Institute for Science, Religion and Culture is hosting "Love, Conflict, and an Unfolding Universe" at Villanova University November 9-11, with both in-person and virtual ways to join.

This gathering marks a decade of their visionary work exploring how love, creativity, and evolutionary consciousness shape our moment. Many of the speakers will be familiar to the Franciscan world: Ilia Delio, OSF, Kathleen Duffy, SSJ, Dan Horan, PhD, and others whose scholarship continues to influence spiritual thinkers across traditions.

This conference is an important space for anyone discerning how we arrived at this moment in history, and how we might imagine and build something better together.

Tonight we honor the Transitus of Saint Francis—the moment he passed from this life into eternal life, giving thanks and embracing Sister Death with peace and praise.

Death is not easy. It comes with grief, with aching absence—especially when sudden or tragic. In a culture that often fears death, Francis invites us into a deeper mystery: that even in loss, there can be beauty, humility, and joy. He acknowledged the full range of emotions in this process.

Autumn reminds us of this mystery. As the leaves begin their descent, they blaze with color—proof that even in dying, there is brilliance.
