Access to abortion pills is UNDER ATTACK. Politicians see what a lifeline mifepristone by mail has become—especially for people in states that ban abortion—and they want to eliminate it.

But we refuse to let extremists get their way. Learn more about the threats we're facing and join us in fighting back: https://bit.ly/3PNBLaN

What happens when a child is forced into motherhood? Three girls took that question to the world's highest human rights bodies—and WON.

The Center's Catalina Martínez Coral and Carmen Martínez discuss the recent victory at the UN in the “They Are Girls, Not Mothers” cases.

For athletes and their families, the NBA draft determines a lot more than the color of a jersey. It moves players into cities and states they didn't choose. And in 2026, that means some people live under laws that protect their rights—and some people don't.

This season’s championship matchup, pitting New York against Texas, perfectly illustrates just how far state laws on reproductive rights have diverged since the Supreme Court overturned Roe in 2022. The comparison is stark.

Georgia’s maternal health care system is broken. Pregnant people are struggling to find a provider, access consistent care, or make informed decisions about their own bodies.

And the outcomes reflect that reality. Georgia has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the country, and most of those deaths are considered preventable.

On top of all of this, restrictive laws, including a six-week abortion ban and harsh restriction on midwifery, are creating confusion and fear for both patients and providers. Providers are forced to navigate unclear boundaries and pregnant people are left unsure of what care they can actually receive.

Follow Center for Reproductive Rights for part two, and check the link to learn more about our newest case in Georgia, which aims to help solve some of these problems: https://bit.ly/3OoFwTL

🐐 Serena Williams is one of the greatest athletes of all time. As she returns to the tennis court, we thought it was only fitting to revisit this conversation she had with former First Lady Michelle Obama. They discussed the need for more *real* conversations about motherhood and maternal health—and we couldn’t agree more! So, let’s actually talk about it:

👉 The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate of any wealthy country even though 80% of pregnancy-related deaths in the country are preventable.

👉 Women of color continue to bear the brunt of this crisis due to persistent inequities in our health care system.

👉 State abortion bans and restrictions are making the crisis worse.

Like Serena says here, people can only make informed decisions when they have the information they need. Learn more about maternal health: https://bit.ly/4xj3txq

If you're wondering what reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ rights have in common, the answer is: just about everything. Specifically, there is MAJOR overlap between the ongoing political attacks against abortion care and gender-affirming care for trans people in the U.S.

In both cases:
⭐️ People's basic bodily autonomy and rights to access the health care procedures that are right for their body and their future are under attack by lawmakers who want to control them.
⭐️ Politicians are attempting to interfere in private medical decisions between patients and providers and working to create additional hurdles for young people to choose the care that's right for their bodies.
⭐️ People are at risk of losing access to lifesaving, evidence-based medical care that is supported by major medical associations including the American Medical Association.
⭐️ The VERY SAME extremist politicians are leading the charge against access to both types of care and partnering on campaigns and legislation which attempt to dehumanize people who access it.

Let's be clear: the attacks aren't just about the specific medical care in question—these types of care are targeted by extremists as a proxy in their broader opposition to equal rights for marginalized groups. It was never about the abortion care or the gender-affirming care itself; it's always been about controlling us and cutting off our access to resources that help us live our lives fully and freely.

Access to safe, respectful maternal health care is a human right. But abortion bans and restrictive, discriminatory laws across the U.S. are fueling a maternal mortality crisis that is needlessly claiming thousands of lives. So what would it really take to reverse this terrifying trend?

Here's what's driving the maternal health crisis — and the changes that could save thousands of lives.

"Mifepristone is safe and effective — hundreds of high-quality studies have made that overwhelmingly clear. Citing junk science, the Trump Administration initiated this review with the politically motivated goal of making abortion pills harder to access,” Liz Wagner, Senior Federal Policy Counsel at the Center for Reproductive Rights, said.

Roughly 7.5 million women have taken the pill over the past 25 years

The evidence is clear: abortion bans harm pregnant people. Patients have been denied timely, medically necessary care while providers face legal barriers that interfere with their ability to practice medicine. These delays can have serious consequences for a person's health, future fertility, and, in some cases, their life.
