In 2025, Donegal Local Development CLG (DLDC) made significant strides in reducing food waste across the county ♻️

Through our partnership with the national charity, FoodCloud, we saved 65,150kg of surplus food, the equivalent of 155, 119 meals and 151,148kg of CO₂ emissions 🌍

The Donegal Food Response Network (DFRN) works in conjunction with FoodCloud, to provide fresh vegetables to those in need 🥕🥦

Efforts to reduce food waste is set to continue in Donegal further in 2026 with DFRN’s Hub & Host Project 🌱

A big thank you to all of you who have donated, our community is amazing. so lets keep it going lets look out for each other. Many people ask us who is the foodbank for. It is everyone who for whatever reason at the end of a week/month, has paid the bills, and realise that they cant afford to buy themselves a meal or have limited food to feed their children. Some people only need us for a week until the wages come in, some people need us due to an illness or an emergency. some people need us for a little bit longer. We at the foodbank will help in whatever way we can. people are not alone in this there is help

We in the foodbank are here to help, no one should be hungry. If you or someone you know needs our help please call into the Aras Begley Hall (beside the chapel) Falcarragh evwry Thursday 10am to 12pm or call/ text us on 0857560177 or email [email protected].

We have a few teenagers in need of some toiletries shampoo conditioner shower supplies if people would like to donate these items please leave them at any of our donation boxes

As the day ends our thoughts are with the Boyce family, a year ago today they lost their mother, wife sister, aunt and friend Sally, she will always be remembered

Well folks that is the foodbank closed for the Christmas holidays we will re open on Thursday 8th January (for any emergencies please call eilish on 0857560177), thank you to all who have donated over the last year we are very grateful, thanks also to the cope Falcarragh, Centra Falcarragh, mcClaffertys eurospar Gortahork, Siopa pobal, all the stall holders who come along to support our fairs, Gaeltacht Social Prescribing / Oideas Sóisialta an Ghaeltacht, SVP Falcarragh and Gortahork, Dldc especially Maire mc Fadden, the Parish priest, and not forgetting our wonderful girls Lynda, Clare,Tina,Martina,Annette and our Willie. And anyone who has helped us during the year. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and new year, together we are better 😊

So some information for you all, behind the scenes we have been working with the other foodbanks and food pantry network across Donegal, Sally Boyce had started the ground work which Eilish Jackson has carried on for us on behalf of the Cloughaneely Foodbank, the Donegal food network has a committe with Mary Coyle of Ionad Padraig Dohair as our chairperson it was a pleasure to be gathered today to launch the strategic plan for 2026 to 2030, together we are better, together we can help reduce food poverty and food waste making lives better for all of those within our community, if you would like a copy of the plan please contact us
