📘 A New School Year Begins with Informed Parents

As classrooms come alive again, preparing our children for school is about more than books, uniforms and stationery. It also means ensuring that parents understand the policies that guide our schools and the role we play in supporting positive student behaviour.

Earlier this year, the St. George Region – Sunshine Region hosted a parent sensitization session focused on the National School Code of Conduct and its Discipline Matrix, helping parents better understand what is expected of both students and families.

Across our educational districts, initiatives like these continue to remind us that an informed parent is better equipped to guide, advocate for and support their child.

As we move into the 2026–2027 school year, let’s keep building that partnership between parent, child and school. 💙📚

🌟 Preparing Our Young People for Life Beyond the Classroom

The National PTA proudly highlights the Port of Spain & Environs Region – Lighthouse Region for supporting students across the district to participate in RHAND Credit Union’s Future Ready initiative in recognition of International Youth Day 2026.

Students gained valuable exposure to career guidance, résumé and interview preparation, networking, recruiters and educational opportunities—helping them build the confidence and skills needed as they prepare for the world of work.

This is another important dimension of PTA service: connecting our children with opportunities that support their education, development and future success.

❤️ Supporting Families. Preparing Students. PTA in Action.

The National PTA proudly highlights the Port of Spain & Environs Region – Lighthouse Region for its Back-to-School Stationery Care Package initiative.

Recognizing the financial pressures many families face at the start of the school year, the Region distributed 30 stationery packages through its Unit Presidents to support students in need across primary and secondary schools throughout the district.

Supported through the NPTA Back-to-School Voucher Programme, this initiative demonstrates what can be achieved when National, our Regions and our Units work together to respond directly to the needs of parents and children.

👏 Congratulations to the Port of Spain & Environs Region for putting parent support and student welfare into action.

💙 Parent Leadership in Action!

The National PTA proudly highlights the St. George Region PTA – Sunshine Region for an initiative recognizing the children of its Executive Members who successfully completed SEA 2026 and transitioned to secondary school.

Through the generous support of TT Ride Share (TTRS), students received school supply packages—a meaningful gesture that not only supports our children but also recognizes the parents who continue to give their time and service to PTA.

This is what PTA is about: supporting families, celebrating our children and turning parent leadership into action.
