village of Rukut, Upper Yarkhun (Chitral), the newly constructed jeepable bridge over the Yarkhun River has brought long-awaited relief to local residents. The bridge now connects the village with nearby areas, significantly improving mobility, market access, and access to essential services.
For years, the community — comprising 42 households in Rukut and 36 in Periyur — had no proper crossing point, forcing residents to face serious challenges in daily travel, education, and healthcare.
Beyond its immediate beneficiaries, the bridge will also indirectly support around 400 households in the neighboring villages of Yukshokot, Shuist, Inkip, and Lasht, whose farmlands lie on the Rukut side of the river.
Built under the Central Asia Poverty Programme (CAPP), the 70-foot-long Rukut Jeepable Bridge now serves as a vital lifeline for these remote mountain communities.
