Respect Is Not Optional. Every Woman Deserves a Safe Workplace.
A workplace should be a space where women feel respected, valued and safe — not a place where they have to tolerate inappropriate jokes, sexist comments or disrespectful behaviour in the name of humour.
Unfortunately, many times, women are subjected to remarks and jokes that may seem casual to others but are deeply disrespectful and uncomfortable for the person on the receiving end.
Let’s be clear: Disrespect is not humour, and making someone uncomfortable is not entertainment.
Every woman has the right to work with dignity, without being judged, objectified or made to feel uncomfortable because of her gender. Creating a safe workplace is not just the responsibility of the management; it is a collective responsibility that begins with our words, our behaviour and our attitude.
Samarth Child & Women Welfare Society strongly condemns sexist jokes, inappropriate comments and every form of disrespect towards women in the workplace.
It is time to move beyond silence, normalisation and the excuse of “just a joke.”
Let us create workplaces where women are recognised for their abilities, respected for who they are, and empowered to work without fear or discomfort.
Because a safe workplace is not a privilege. It is a basic right.
