Today, on the World Day Against Child Labor, FAWCO reaffirms a simple truth: every child deserves a childhood that provides a quality education and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Around the world, millions of children are engaged in labor that deprives them of their rights and prevents them from learning. Ending child labor requires collective action across governments and communities. Let’s build a future based on education, not exploitation. Children belong in school, not the workplace.

FAWCO's Human Rights Team and its Education Team stand in solidarity with those working to protect children's rights and to ensure that every child has the chance to learn and thrive in a

Take a look at this article, "Educating Families, Empowering Children: Why Adult Learning Should Be a Human Right" (https://tinyurl.com/3bz8xjkw), co-written by Marelie Manders (Heidelberg IWC, Human Rights Team Co-Chair) and Dana Cognetta Fritchie (AIWC Frankfurt, Education Team Co-Chair).

As you read, ask yourself: how many of the children working today are simply repeating a story their parents never got to rewrite?

Let us all give a red card to child labor: fair play for children, decent work for adults

Play is how children learn and connect. Yet for millions of children around the world, especially those affected by conflict, poverty and inequality, this fundamental part of childhood remains out of reach.

On June 11, FAWCO joins the global community in recognizing the International Day of Play and this year’s theme: Protect Play, Protect Childhood. Access to play is not simply a luxury. It is essential to education, well-being and healthy development. It nurtures creativity and resilience, while also reducing stress and supporting both physical and mental well-being. The right to play is inseparable from the right to learn.

A small action for today:Take a moment to support spaces, programs or policies that ensure children have safe opportunities to play and learn.

Women in STEM are not only driving innovation — they are shaping the future.

The latest issue of Inspiring Women celebrates FAWCO and FAUSA members whose curiosity, expertise and determination are opening doors, solving problems and inspiring the next generation.

Their stories remind us why representation matters: when women and girls see what is possible, they are more likely to imagine themselves as scientists, engineers, researchers, technologists and leaders.

We invite you to read, share and celebrate the women helping move our world forward.

🌊 World Ocean Day 2026 🌊

This year’s theme, "Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet", reminds us that a healthy ocean is essential for climate stability, biodiversity and life on Earth. Governments around the world have committed to protecting 30% of lands, waters and oceans by 2030. Now action must follow.

This World Ocean Day, take one small action: learn more, reduce plastic waste, support ocean conservation efforts or share resources with others. Together, our collective actions can help protect our blue planet for future generations.

📣 This week is Overseas Americans Week.

Millions of US citizens live, work, study, raise families and contribute to communities outside the United States. Yet the unique challenges they face are often overlooked in policy discussions.

For decades, FAWCO has worked to ensure that the voices of Americans abroad are heard. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration with partner organizations, we help bring attention to issues that affect our members and the broader overseas American community. We are proud to support advocacy that strengthens engagement, protects rights and helps connect Americans overseas to the democratic process.

We celebrate the power of civic engagement and the importance of making sure that geography does not limit representation. The experiences and perspectives of Americans living abroad matter, and their voices deserve a place in the conversation.

Have you ever advocated for an issue that affects Americans overseas? Share your experience or tell us what issues matter most to you.

World No To***co Day | May 31

World No To***co Day raises awareness about the dangers of to***co use, the tactics of the to***co industry, and what we can all do to support healthier lives and protect future generations. Established by the World Health Organization in 1987, this day draws global attention to the to***co epidemic and the preventable disease and death it causes. This year's theme, "Unmask the Appeal," highlights how to***co and ni****ne products are designed to attract and addict, especially our younger population. But addiction is not inevitable. With awareness, education and collective action, its grip can be broken.

At FAWCO, we support efforts that promote health, informed choices and supportive community to
