The Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra comprises four individual groups with the singular focus of training intermediate and advanced musicians in the discipline and art of performance. At the TMYO, students will play alongside exceptionally talented young musicians from across the Tampa Bay area under the direction of nationally renowned faculty members. Students members will rehearse in state-of

-the-art facilities, play in a variety of settings, and will travel to many of the region's top musical venues. Student members will have the opportunity to be collaborate with fellow musicians in extraordinary performances while sharpening each their individual artistic skills.

The start of something special....What an incredible day for side by sides!!! Our symphony musicians played side by side mentoring musicians from symphonic strings; our philharmonic orchestra played side by side mentoring string concertino musicians! We are on our way to building strong connections between our hard working young artists!! Each group was conducted by a different conductor to expand the learning experience even more!

Thank you parents and caregivers for supporting your musicians and our TMYO community!

🎻 TMYO Welcomes New Music Director, Maestra Sandra Cepero! 🎻

Originally from Cuba, Maestra Cepero has led orchestras across Germany, Japan, Mexico, Slovenia, Korea, and beyond, with recent highlights including La Traviata across Slovenia & Croatia and The Magic Flute in Berlin. 🌍✨

She brings over a decade of experience nurturing young talent, including leading Mexico’s celebrated Esperanza Azteca Youth Symphony, founding the Women’s Chamber Orchestra Sorellanza, and mentoring students across the U.S. and abroad.

Maestra Cepero has studied under internationally celebrated conductors Dr. Gregory Wolynec, Maestro Mark Gibson, Valery Gergiev, Lior Shambadal, Benjamin Zander, and Kenneth Kiesler.

Maestra Cepero brings a rare combination of artistic excellence, visionary artistry, and an unwavering commitment for youth music education for TMYO's next chapter.

Reflecting on her new role, Maestra Cepero shared:

"I am extremely excited about this new chapter in my career, starting in my role as Music director of TMYO. I can't wait to see all the successes that await us with these talented young people."
