Last week at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities and the Agro-Tourism Association hosted a high-level stakeholder workshop. The session focused on reviewing the proposed Agro-Tourism Guidelines and a new Inspection Tool both designed to formalize and scale the sector nationwide.
This initiative is a direct pillar of the government’s 10-Fold Strategy, which seeks to catapult Uganda’s economy from USD 50B to USD 500B by 2040. By integrating Agriculture and Tourism—the nation's two strongest economic drivers—stakeholders aim to create a powerful engine for accelerated growth.
The workshop featured a broad cross-section of industry leaders, including: Government Entities (MTWA, Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Lands, Tourism Police, etc), Development Partners (Swisscontact Uganda, PELUM Uganda, etc), Private Sector (over 60 Agro-Tourism enterprises, ranging from established anchors to regional community initiatives and eco-tourism centers)
