🌍 Yesterday at the DRC Pavilion at COP30: At the heart of Carbon Finance, Climate Economics and African Research!
We had the honour of hosting a crucial event yesterday, 17 November 2025, at the DRC Pavilion (Blue Zone) as part of COP30, on the theme: "Carbon Credits, Climate Economy and Research."
The adoption of carbon finance and the climate economy, combined with the promotion of African scientific research, is a key strategy for catalysing sustainable development in the DRC and across the African continent.
We had enriching discussions led by high-level speakers :
🎙️ The delegate of the Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development, and New Climate Economy in the DRC shared the Congolese government's expectations for the effective implementation of the Regional Centre for Research on Carbon and Climate Economy and its impact on the image of the DRC and Africa.
🎙️ Mr Apollinaire ZAGABE, Executive Director of the Congolese Climate Change Network (RCC) and main contact for the OIBC-4 Consortium, presented the motivation behind this initiative, which promotes African intellectual independence, capacity building and the creation of a regional research centre.
🎙️ Prof. Isaac KALONDA, National Coordinator of the DRC Green Funds, demonstrated the need to mobilise expertise and leadership at the Green Fund level to ensure the required financial support and success of the project.
🎙️ Mr Tosi MPANU-MPANU, Ambassador and Senior Adviser to the President on Environment and Climate Change, emphasised the support of the Presidency and civil society to ensure the success of this Africa-based sustainable development programme.
Thank you to all our distinguished speakers and representatives of OIBC-4 (partners: UNEP, UNDP, UNECA, FAO) for their invaluable contributions!
