🌿 From bare ground to a space for healing

What was once an empty, dusty area around the MUTIMA Psychosocial Centre is slowly becoming something very different: a welcoming garden, full of life, colour and possibility.

The first stage of the garden was designed and created with the support of CRSN engineer Safari Baluku Patrick, who helped transform this previously unused space into a greener and more peaceful environment for the Centre.

But this is only the beginning.

From now on, the garden will continue to grow and evolve with the participation of MUTIMA’s users themselves — planting, caring for the space and gradually making it their own.

For us, this is much more than landscaping. A therapeutic space is also shaped by what surrounds us: a place to sit outside, breathe, talk, rest, connect with nature and with others, and participate in creating something beautiful.

Little by little, an empty plot of land is becoming part of the healing environment of MUTIMA. 🌱

Thank you, Safari Baluku Patrick, for helping us begin this transformation.

The body knows no borders.

During this period of intense conflict, MUTIMA’s psychologists and psychosocial assistants continue visiting the most vulnerable households—bringing mental health support directly to those who cannot reach us.

Our teams use EFT and Roger Callahan’s trauma algorithm, stimulating four meridian reflex points associated with trauma, fear, anxiety and emotional blockage.

Through tapping, breathing, movement and voice, people learn simple tools to release emotional distress and restore a sense of safety within their bodies.

The circumstances may change, but the human nervous system is the same. And even in the midst of conflict, the body can find its way back to calm.

📖 MUTIMA NOTEBOOK — IFENDULA 2

MUTIMA’s psychologists are visiting a family in Ifendula 2.

The father is now the sole caregiver of ten children after his wife was shot and killed during the clashes in Kahungu. Their youngest daughter is only nine months old.

Since their mother’s death, the children have had to leave school because the family can no longer afford the costs of their education.

Behind every armed conflict are families whose lives are transformed in an instant. MUTIMA’s team goes where the consequences of violence are lived every day: inside homes, within families, and in the bodies and hearts of those who survive.

Listening, providing psychosocial support, and standing alongside them is where recovery begins.

❤️ Would you like to support this family specifically?

Write to us through the contact form at www.cooperacongo.org. Our team will coordinate your support directly with the family.

We may have been quiet on social media, but our community mental health teams have not stopped.

Despite the ongoing conflict and the many challenges faced by communities in eastern DR Congo, our teams continue to reach people where they are — visiting, listening, supporting and ensuring that no one is left alone in the most difficult moments.

The conflict continues, but so does our commitment.

Mental health care cannot wait for peace.

✨🤲🫂✨A simple tip from MUTIMA🌟🤲🌟🌟🫂

When fear feels overwhelming, try giving yourself a gentle hug. Cross your arms around your chest or shoulders, apply comfortable pressure, and take a few slow breaths.

This simple form of self-soothing touch can help ground the body, reduce the stress response and restore a sense of safety.

Sometimes, the first safe place we can return to is our own body 💪.

For the Coopera Congo team, it is absolutely essential to listen to women’s voices — voices that are too often silenced.

We take the time to hear their experiences: how home visits are supporting them, and how food assistance has impacted their daily lives.

We know this support was not enough. But in the midst of conflict, it helped provide a push forward — a first step to keep going.

Listening, acknowledging, adapting.
This is where meaningful support begins.

Today we share very sad news.

The teams of Coopera Congo and Mutima – Centre Psychosocial announce the death of our beneficiary Bishweka Ntabidula, which occurred this Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Katana (Chahoboka).

Bishweka was part of our psychosocial support program. His journey, his resilience, and his presence are part of the story of our community.

In the photo, he is pictured alongside our psychologist Diudonné, who regularly visited him together with our psychosocial assistant, Jolie. Their commitment reflects the heart of our mission: going where people are, staying present, and offering human support in fragile and vulnerable contexts.

In regions affected by conflict and instability, every life matters. Every loss is deeply felt.

On behalf of Coopera Congo and Mutima, we extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

We remain committed to continuing this work — with dignity, courage, and humanity.
