Celebrating the importance of healthy, standing rainforests for climate, biodiversity, culture, and livelihoods— and convening the global movement to protect and restore them. It is our hope that will serve as a day for people worldwide to come together by doing something positive for rainforests, taking the actions of individuals and combining their power to create a collective positive impact on rainforests and the climate worldwide.

Counting down to we celebrate this year's central theme:

Protecting rainforests is not just about guarding a distant place; it is about safeguarding the living design, breath, and memory we carry inside ourselves.

To all of our rainforest friends in the beautiful city of Toronto—last night, we invited you to look outside as the CN Tower lit up the night sky in green in recognition of World Rainforest Day.

I can’t think of a more powerful symbol of this year’s theme, The Forest Within: a city that may feel so distant from the world’s rainforests, yet shining bright green in solidarity with them, reminding us that we are never too far away to be touched by a rainforest.

And just like the CN Tower, may the forest within each of us shine outward like a beacon—reaching across the world, inspiring others, and reminding people everywhere of their connection to nature.

As we close this year’s celebration of World Rainforest Day, let this be a reminder to hold on to the light of the forest within you. Don’t let it dim, and don’t let anyone dim it. When enough lights shine together, they can illuminate the whole world.

Happy World Rainforest Day! We enjoyed celebrating with each and every one of you 🌱

“A forest is not just a place, it is actually a living web of relationships.” 🌿

Today, World Rainforest Day Co-Coordinator Angelica shares what this year’s theme, The Forest Within, means to her.

Reflecting on her time in Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, Angelica speaks about the power of being fully present in the forest and how she is able to carry the forest within her long after she has left. As she reminds us, “Even when we are far apart, our actions ripple across the world.”

The connections we build with forests don’t end when we leave them behind—they stay with us, shaping how we see, act, and care for the world around us. 🌎💚

💭 Have you taken the time to connect with the forest today?

06/22/2026

Our World Rainforest Day partners from around the globe came together to share what the forest means to them. 🌿

Together, their voices wove a beautiful mosaic of stories, perspectives, and connections—revealing the many ways humans, forests, and all life on Earth are interconnected.

What’s remarkable is that while each reflection was deeply personal and uniquely different, they all echoed a similar truth: the forest lives within us.

When we connect to the forest within ourselves, we strengthen our connection to one another—and to the rainforests that sustain life on Earth. By nurturing those connections, we can better protect these extraordinary ecosystems for generations to come.

Megan, World Rainforest Day co-coordinator, shares a message on this year’s theme 🌿

The beauty of World Rainforest Day is that it is a day for everyone. Everyone can celebrate a rainforest—because we all hold a rainforest story within us. Whether you live in a rainforest, have never stepped foot in one, or are somewhere in between, these ecosystems are something to be celebrated.

No matter where you are in the world, you have an impact on rainforests—and at the same time, rainforests have an impact on you. A rainforest is part of everyone’s story, in both visible and unseen ways.

💭 How do you feel connected to rainforests?

Today is the day, and it’s been incredibly inspiring to see messages and posts pouring in from around the world in celebration of one of Earth’s most critical ecosystems. From personal reflections on what the “forest within you” means, to powerful events hosted by our rainforest partners, to stories of ongoing conservation work aligning with this year’s themes—it’s truly a mosaic of voices coming together.

We can’t wait to continue hearing these reflections ripple across the globe. What a beautiful day to celebrate rainforests and all they give us. There is so much power in community and collective action. Thank you for celebrating with us today. We look forward to continuing to celebrate throughout the day—and carrying this momentum forward throughout the year.

Across half the globe, World Rainforest Day has already begun—and the celebrations are underway. To kick off World Rainforest Day, Tatiana Klatech, Co-CEO of Rainforest Partnership, shares what the forest means to her.

Certified in the practice of forest bathing, Tatiana also offers simple ways to reconnect with your inner forest and experience the benefits of spending time in nature.

This World Rainforest Day, take a few minutes to step outside, slow down, and immerse yourself in the natural world. Whether it’s a forest, a park, or a single tree, nature has a way of grounding us and reminding us that we are part of something larger.

Because when we connect with the forest within us, the forests around us can thrive. 🌿🌎
