❤️🐾 ALMOST ONE YEAR IN RESCUE… AND YANKEE IS STILL WAITING. 🐾❤️
In just a few short weeks, Yankee will be due for her annual vaccinations. While that might not seem like a big deal, for us, it's a heartbreaking reminder that this beautiful girl has spent almost an entire year in rescue without finding her forever home. 💔
Yankee's story began in November 2025, when she was found on top of a garbage pile at a dump outside Yorkton. She was skinny, vulnerable, and facing a Saskatchewan winter she likely wouldn't have survived on her own.
Thankfully, Yankee was given a second chance. ❤️
Today, she's healthy, strong, and full of life! But there's still one thing missing… a family to call her own.

🎂 Approximate Birthdate: March 2025 (about 1½ years old)
🐕 Breed: Rottweiler Cross
⚖️ Weight: Approximately 70 lbs
💕 S*x: Female – Spayed
💉 Vaccinated: Annual vaccinations coming due in November 2026
🐾 Dewormed & Microchipped: Yes
Yankee is a beautiful, affectionate girl with a BIG personality and an even BIGGER heart!
She's strong, energetic, enthusiastic, and absolutely LOVES being around people!
If you're looking for a walking, jogging, or running partner, Yankee might just be your girl! 🏃♀️🐕 She's already been enjoying runs with one of her caregivers and would love an active family who can include her in their adventures.
But here's something you might not expect…
Yankee has a softer, quieter side too! ❤️
When staff are working late at the veterinary clinic, Yankee sometimes gets to come out and spend time relaxing alongside them. She's perfectly happy just lounging around, enjoying their company, and being part of whatever they're doing.
She doesn't need to be running every minute of the day. Sometimes, just being close to someone is enough. 🥹
And while we can't promise she'll get along with every cat, Yankee has spent time loose in the clinic alongside their resident cat, Louie, without any reported problems. Louie is a very tolerant kitty, but it's encouraging to see that Yankee can share space calmly with a feline friend!
❤️ SO WHAT KIND OF HOME DOES YANKEE NEED?
🐾 An active family! Someone who enjoys walks, jogging, running, and outdoor adventures.
🐾 Someone comfortable with a strong dog! At approximately 70 lbs, Yankee is a powerful girl, and when she gets excited, she can sometimes forget her manners.
🐾 Patience and continued training! Yankee is young and enthusiastic. She needs someone willing to help her work on jumping, mouthing, and managing her excitement.
🐾 Companionship! Yankee genuinely enjoys being around people. Whether you're out exploring or relaxing at home, she wants to be included.
🐾 A home without chickens or poultry. Yankee has shown that she isn't a good match for them.
🐾 Thoughtful introductions to other pets. She has shown interest in other dogs and has peacefully spent time around a cat, but compatibility would need to be assessed individually.
Yankee isn't a bad dog. She isn't an unlovable dog. She's simply a young, strong, energetic dog who needs the right person to understand her.
We don't want to pretend she's a perfectly trained dog who will never jump or get overexcited. She's still learning, and that's okay.
What we do know is that beneath all that energy is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves belly rubs, enjoys human companionship, and has so much potential. ❤️
And that's what makes her wait so heartbreaking.
Yankee has spent nearly an entire year watching life happen around her.
She's been cared for. She's been loved. She's been given a second chance.
But she still hasn't experienced what every rescue animal deserves — the security of knowing she's finally home.
A place where she belongs.
A family who chooses her.
Someone who sees past her excitement and recognizes the incredible companion she could become.
Almost 365 days in rescue. Almost 365 days without a forever family. 💔
We don't want to see another year pass for Yankee.
We want her next vaccination appointment to be one where her very own family brings her in, proud to call her theirs. ❤️
