🇨🇦🏳️‍🌈June is Pride Month in Canada🏳️‍🌈🇨🇦

As a Legion, we recognize the damage that was done to our veterans during the purge.

Canada has a sordid history of what can be termed as state-sponsored homophobia, bi-phobia, and transphobia. For decades there was a policy aimed at oppressing and consequently criminalizing same-sex conduct through “heteronormalization.” Heterosexual relationships were depicted by society at large as being ‘normal’. Conversely, same-sex relationships were often suppressed and depicted as savage or abnormal sexuality through state-backed churches and criminal law.

The LGBT community has historically been the subject of prosecution and discrimination in the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, and Federal Public Service. The campaign to identify and purge LGBT Federal Public Servants on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression in the Federal Public Service and military began in the 1950s and continued for decades.

Notice anything different in the profile picture of the Canadian Army's page?

Aside from minor stylistic changes, did you notice the crown changed? As designs get approved, units and organizations within the Canadian Armed Forces are transitioning to the new Canadian Crown. Older designs featured the crown of St. Edward, chosen by Queen Elizabeth II as a symbol of her reign. Newer designs feature the Canadian Crown, which is based on the Tudor crown, but with Canadian symbols incorporated.

"Gunners,
On this Artillery Day, I extend my warmest greetings to all members of The Regiment, serving, retired, and our families, wherever you are.

Today we honour the proud legacy of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery: a tradition forged through professionalism, innovation, and steadfast service to Canada. From our earliest batteries to the modern, networked battlefield, Gunners have remained a decisive force, disciplined, adaptable, and ready.

I thank each of you for your commitment to excellence and for upholding our values. Your skill, teamwork, and dedication ensure that the Regiment continues to earn the trust of those we support and the nation we serve.

Let us also pause to remember those who came before us. Their sacrifice and service remain the foundation upon which we stand today.

Ubique.
