The Yorkton Indigenous Friendship Centre had the pleasure of meeting with Aleana Young, Shadow Minister for Jobs and Economy, and Nathaniel Teed, Shadow Minister for Labour and 2SLGBTQIA+ Issues.

It was a valuable opportunity to sit down together and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Yorkton, surrounding communities, and Indigenous peoples throughout the region. We also explored ways to support the important work being done to strengthen services, create opportunities, and build healthier, more connected communities for everyone.

We appreciate their willingness to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful conversations. Strong partnerships and open dialogue are essential as we work together to support the well-being and success of individuals, families, and communities across Yorkton and the surrounding area.

Thank you for taking the time to meet with us and hear our voices.

πŸŒΏπŸ’™ A Milestone Worth Celebrating πŸ’™πŸŒΏ

Today, we proudly recognize the commitment, vision, and dedication of our Executive Director, Mary Musqua-Culbertson.

Because of Mary’s leadership and determination in securing a building for the Yorkton Indigenous Friendship Centre we now have a place where community members can gather, heal, learn, and feel a sense of belonging. This Safe Space Declaration is more than a documentβ€”it is a reflection of the values we strive to uphold every day.

Without Mary’s hard work and perseverance, we would not have the opportunity to provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, Elders, youth, families, and all members of our community.

Her dedication has helped create an environment where people are respected, valued, heard, and supported. The impact of this work will be felt for generations to come.

On behalf of everyone at Yorkton Indigenous Friendship Centre, we extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation.

Miigwetch, Mary, for your unwavering commitment, leadership, and belief in building stronger, safer communities for all. ❀️
