🪡There are still spots in our Sewing 101 Orientation on Sunday, August 9th from 12-3pm! Register on our portal! my.makerspaceyk.com

In this workshop participants will learn the basics of sewing machine operation (for domestic and industrial sewing machines at MSYK) and then make square pin cushion to put their learning into practice! Participants will learn how to thread the sewing machine, wind a bobbin, change a needle, adjust tension and do some stitching!

Looking for a reason to make some art this week? Crit Nite is happening Friday, August 7 from 7 to 9 PM at Makerspace YK.

Bring a finished piece, a work in progress, your sketchbook, or simply come to listen and join the conversation. Crit Nite is an informal evening to share ideas, get fresh perspectives, and connect with other artists and creative people in the community.

Hosted in partnership with YKARCC, this event is always free to attend. All are welcome.

New date! Join us for a special Drag Edition of Life Drawing at Makerspace YK, featuring local drag artist Fuzzy Lemons as our model. This relaxed, welcoming session is a chance to practice gesture, character, and portrait drawing while celebrating creativity and self-expression. Artists of all experience levels are welcome, from first-timers to seasoned sketchers. We'll have a selection of drawing materials available to try, but we encourage you to bring your own supplies, especially paper and any favourite drawing tools. This is an 18+ event, and spaces are limited.

Join us at Makerspace YK for a hands-on Cyanotype Workshop! Learn the process of creating beautiful blue sun prints using natural materials and light-sensitive paper. Participants will coat their own paper, head out on a short nature walk to collect plants and objects, then return to the makerspace to create unique cyanotype prints. No experience needed.
