Basketball NWT Participation: the fundamental objective is to encourage maximum participation of all ages, cultures, and genders.

Basketball NWT is a registered not for profit society whose responsibility it is to plan, finance, and implement the Association's goals, objectives, and programs. Developing Athletes: serve and stimulate the young developing athlete whether at the awareness or high performance level. Cultural and Social Interchange: provide opportunities for cultural and social interchange amongst all athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers while promoting skill development, fair play, and participation

🏀 WINS COME IN MANY DIFFERENT FORMS! 🏀

Our U15 Boys have been putting in the work at Nationals this week, competing against some incredibly talented teams from across Canada. 🇨🇦

The games have been really good, with lots of learning and growth along the way. Every point has been earned against tough competition, giving our athletes a firsthand look at the level of play they need to work toward for future success.

Nationals is about more than what shows up on the scoreboard. It's about gaining experience, being challenged, learning from every game, and coming home as better players and a stronger team.

We are incredibly proud of how our U15 Boys continue to compete, learn, and represent the Northwest Territories! 💙💛🏀

🏀 WHAT A WEEK FOR OUR U17 BOYS! 🏀

This week has been nothing short of amazing for our NWT U17 Boys at Nationals — not one, not two, but THREE wins! 🎉💪

Their first victory came on Tuesday with a win over Newfoundland & Labrador, followed by another impressive victory against Newfoundland & Labrador on Thursday. They kept the momentum going yesterday with another big win over Prince Edward Island! 🏀💪🎉

We couldn't be more excited for these athletes and their coaching staff. All the hard work, training, travel and commitment is paying off, and they are showing everyone what NWT basketball is all about!

Keep playing hard, supporting each other and enjoying every minute of this experience.

What an incredible week in Whatì! ❤️

We had an amazing time spending the week with all of the fantastic kids who joined us at the Northwestel Outdoor Summer Camp. Thank you to Mezi Community School for welcoming us and generously allowing us to use your facility throughout the week.

A special thank you to the Department of Healing & Community Wellness for treating everyone to delicious smoothies, to Manveer from the Whatì RCMP detachment for spending an afternoon playing games with the campers, and to the Whatì Healthy Families Program for organizing an unforgettable beach day.

To all of the families, community members, volunteers, and especially our incredible campers—thank you for making us feel so welcome. Your kindness, enthusiasm, and community spirit made this week truly special. We made so many wonderful memories and are already counting down the days until we’re back in Whatì next summer! ☀️🏕️💙@

🎉 Congratulations to our NWT U17 Boys! 🎉

Our NWT U17 Boys Team earned a fantastic 101–76 victory over Newfoundland this afternoon at the 2026 Canada Basketball National Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan!

An incredible team effort on both ends of the court led to a well-deserved win. Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on a great performance!

Keep up the hard work, enjoy the experience, and best of luck in your remaining games. The entire Northwest Territories is cheering you on!

🏀 Good Luck, Team NWT! 🏀

Today, our U15 and U17 Boys Teams are headed to Regina, Saskatchewan to represent the Northwest Territories at the 2026 Canada Basketball National Championships! 🇨🇦

Over the past several months, these athletes and coaches have dedicated countless hours to training, fundraising, and preparing for this opportunity. Their hard work, commitment, and teamwork have earned them the chance to compete against the best teams from across Canada.

On behalf of Basketball NWT, we wish both teams, their coaches, managers, and families the very best of luck. Play hard, support one another, enjoy every moment, and make the Northwest Territories proud!

We also wish everyone safe travels to Regina and back home. Have an amazing week, and we can't wait to follow your journey and cheer you on from the North!

Coming This Fall, Sport North and Physical Literacy Northwest Territories are proud to launch the new Professional Development Inspiration Series for coaches across the Northwest Territories. Built on a simple idea: NWT coaches learning from NWT coaches.

Every coach has a story. Every community has experiences worth sharing. Through this monthly virtual series, coaches from across the territory will come together to exchange ideas, celebrate successes, learn from challenges, and inspire one another.

Whether you’re a new coach or have years of experience, these informal lunch-hour sessions are an opportunity to learn, connect, and grow together. Real stories. Practical ideas. We are together. FORGED BY SPORT.
