Did you know, food banks here in Canada....

1. In 2026, we saw 2.35 million visits to food banks in a month.
2. Food bank use has risen by 117% since 2019, including an increase of nearly 9% in the past year alone.
3. One-third of food bank clients are children.
4. Nearly 18% of people who access food banks have jobs but still cannot make ends meet.
5. Since 2021, food prices have increased by 30%, housing costs by 28%, and transportation costs by nearly 24%. Incomes have not grown quickly enough to keep up.
6. 72% of food bank clients live in market-rent housing

Some of those stats are even much higher per capita here in Yellowknife

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the many volunteer’s, and staff for all that you done to ensure that almost 200 people were served a hot Thanksgiving turkey dinner and all the fixings today. It went so smoothly because of your passion for helping others. We’ll do it all over again next year.

We are about 5 hours from opening the church doors to serve up to 250 people a hot Thanksgiving turkey dinner. The tables are almost set, the serving area is set up, and the cooks are up in the kitchen prepping all the food. Join us from 1:00 to 2:30 today. A huge shout out to the many volunteers this takes to do this meal. Thank you

Join us on Thanksgiving Monday from 1:00 to 2:30 for Turkey dinner.

We're hosting our annual Thanksgiving Community Feast on Monday, Oct 12th! Join us from 1:00 to 2:30pm for a wonderful hot turkey dinner, served in our Church space.

*Please note that it is dine-in only. We will not be offering take out plates. Sorry, there will be no exceptions*

THANK-YOU Yellowknife. You never disappoint. As if 4:00 pm almost all of the 600 hampers were sold. A huge thanks to Lakeshore Co-op Yellowknife for being such great community partners. We also made almost 500 hot dogs for hungry shoppers.

A huge thanks to the almost 40 volunteers, hundreds of shoppers, and a great community services staff under Jennifer’s leadership, who made this such a great success.
